THE Author of these Sermons, having long been convinced of the great difficulty of conveying to uncultivated minds, through the Pulpit alone, definite, and accurate notions, of the fundamental doctrines of the Gospel; and not having found amongst the multitude of little works daily published for the instruction of the labouring classés, a compendium corresponding with his own ideas of what was required, has been induced to attempt to supply the deficiency; and to put into the hands of his Parishioners, a series of short, and plain discourses, on essential points of faith.
