The seventy disciples S. LUKE.
sent to preach.
the dead bury their dead: ye enter, and they receive but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
f CHAP. X.
you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,

p4 Carry neither purse, nor Scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
d 5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6 And if the Son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to
8 And into whatsoever city
12 But I say unto you, that
that day for Sodom, than for that city.
w13 Wo unto thee, Chorazin! wo unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment,than for you. w15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell..
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name,
CHAP. X. Neighbour described.
t 18 And he said unto them, 26 He said unto him, What I beheld Satan as lightning is written in the law? how fall from heaven. readest thou?
19 Behold, I give unto youd 27 And he answering said, power to tread on serpents Thou shalt love the Lord thy and scorpions, and over all God with all thy heart, and the power of the enemy: and with all thy soul, and with all nothing shall by any means thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when
he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take
kingdom come. Thy will be done,as in heaven,so in earth, 3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
Christ teacheth care of him: and whatsoever lowed be thy name. thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was 4 And forgive us our sins; neighbour unto him that fell for we also forgive every one among the thieves? And d 37 And he said, He that that is indebted to us. shewed mercy on him. knocketh it shall be opened. A11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg,
Devil cast out. Christ preacheth. will he offer him a scorpion? | wherein he trusted, and dit 13 If ye then, being evil, videth his spoils.

26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of t 17 But he, knowing their that man is worse than the thoughts, said unto them, first.
Every kingdom divided 27¶And it came to pass, as against itself is brought to he spake these things, a cerdesolation; and a house di-tain woman of the company vided against a house falleth. lifted up her voice, and said 18 If Satan also be divided unto him, Blessed is the against himself, how shall his womb that bare thee, and the kingdom stand? because ye paps which thou hast sucked. say that I cast out devils 28 But he said, Yea, rather, through Beelzebub.
blessed are they that hear the 19 And if I by Beelzebub word of God, and keep it. cast out devils, by whom do f 29 ¶ And when the people your sons cast them out? were gathered thick toge therefore shall they be your ther, he began to say, This is judges. an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
i 21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour
30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
w31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for

34 The light of the body is greetings in the markets. the eye: therefore when thine w44 Wo unto you, scribes eye is single, thy whole body and Pharisees, hypocrites! also is full of light; but when for ye are as graves which thine eye is evil, thy body also appear not, and the men that is full of darkness. walk over them are not aware 35 Take heed therefore of them. that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto 36 If thy whole body there- him, Master, thus saying fore be full of light, having thou reproachest us also. no part dark, thewhole shall w46 And he said, Wo unto be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. f37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he wentin, and sat down to meat. 38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens griev ous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. w47 Wo unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles,
