which every good Christian is likely more or less to suffer in his earthly pilgrimage. For our sorrows and trials will soon pass away and be forgotten; whereas the rewards of patient endurance are eternal in the heavens. "Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look, not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal "."

In conclusion, we address ourselves, in the language of prayer, to that great Being who ruleth on high.

O blessed Lord God, in thy mercy grant us grace properly to understand, and adequately to fulfil, the various obligations which attach to us in our Christian profession. Enable us to comprehend the great truths contained in the Gospel. Fill us with a humble and pious, yet fervid zeal, in thy service. And whenever we repeat the Articles of our Belief contained in this Creed, may we do so in a teachable frame of mind, and with devout affection towards thee, O Father,

who created us; towards thee, O Lord Jesus, who redeemed us; and towards thee, O Holy Spirit, who sanctifieth us. Thus may we hum+ bly hope, through the merits of Christ, and by the mercy of God, to be among the number of those for whom Christ's death will prove available unto everlasting salvation.
