Chaplain in Ordinary to his Majesty, Canon of Christ Church, Rector of OverWorton, with the Perpetual Curacy of Nether-Worton annexed, Oxfordshire, Incumbent of the first portion of the Rectory of Weddesdon, Bucks, and many years one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for Oxfordshire. He took the degree of M.A. in 1768, B.D. 1788, and D.D. 1789. In 1792, he succeeded Dr. Hennington, as Canon of Christ Church. Dr. Burton was educated at Magdalen College, of which Society he was a Fellow. He married the daughter of Robert James, D.C.L. and Regius Professor of Civil Law.
