PREFACE. No subject can be more intensely important and precious to a Christian than the history of the life of our blessed Redeemer, with an account of those heavenly discourses, and gracious and wonderful actions, which manifested His glory when on earth. Nor can these things be too early brought before the young disciple. A pious friend, the writer of this work, has well employed her talent in endeavouring to draw from the Scriptures, in a simple and easy way, for the use of the poor and younger Christians, the chief particulars given by the Evangelists respecting our divine Lord and Saviour. May it be blessed of God in leading the young Christian to know Him, and early to seek Him; and diligently, and with much prayer, to read those Holy Scriptures, which testify of Him. Thus may they find Him, who is the way, the truth, and the life. And may it be said of each reader of this volume, as St. Paul does of Timothy, "From a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith, which is in Christ Jesus."
