I will declare the decree: The Lord hath said unto me, thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance: And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron: Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear: And rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little: Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. PSALM 8. O Lord, our God, how excellent is thy Name in all the earth: Who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies: That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers: The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained. What is man, that thou art mindful of him: And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels: And hast crowned him with glory and honor. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things under his feet. All sheep and oxen: Yea, and the beasts of the field. The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea: And whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord: How excellent is thy Name in all the earth! PSALM 16. Preserve me, O God: For in thee do I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, thou art my Lord: My goodness extendeth not to thee. But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent: In whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied: That hasten after another god. Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer: Nor take up their names into my lips. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places: Yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: My reins also instruct me in the night-seasons. I have set the Lord always before me: Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell: Neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. PSALM 19. The heavens declare the glory of God: And the firmament sheweth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech: And night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language: Where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth: And their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun: Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: And in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors: Cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins, let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight: O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer. PSALM 23. The Lord is my Shepherd: I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his Name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. PSALM 24. The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. The world, and they that dwell therein. |
