In the present age, when so many religious books are daily issuing from the press,
I should scarcely have ventured to add another to the list, had it not been for the persuasion that if we would " train up our children in “ the way they should go we must not only impress them with early 'habits of piety, but must be careful that the great truths of God's Holy Word be laid before them in such a way, that they may not rest contented with the outward form of religion only, but be enabled to grasp the substance also.
Young persons are too apt to consider the Old and New Testaments as distinct books. Whilst they acknowledge the contents of the New to be especially addressed to them as Christians, they look upon most of the events
