WEDNESDAY MORNING.

Exhortation.

LET us praise the name of GOD with a psalm and magnify Him with thanksgiving.

[Here a Psalm should be said or chanted.]

Prayer.

O GOD of all grace and mercy! Thy word endureth for ever in heaven, and Thy faithfulness unto all generations. We lift up our hearts unto Thee, the gracious Author and Giver of every good gift, to bless and magnify Thy great and holy Name, for all the blessings and mercies of this life; for the rest and protection of the night past; and for bringing us again into Thy presence this morning with praise and thanksgiving. Especially do we thank Thee for the blessings of Redemption; and for the unspeakable riches of Thy grace, conferred upon us in CHRIST JESUS our LORD; in Whose Name we come before Thee, with the Spirit of adoption, as

very members of His mystical body and joint heirs with Him in Thy Kingdom; and we do thank Thee that Thou hast given us to be filled with the blessed hope of His glorious appearing; that the day-star has arisen in our hearts, giving us the pledge and earnest of the coming morning, causing us to lift up our heads with joy, because our redemption draweth nigh; when we, with Thy risen saints, shall be changed into the likeness of His glorious body.

And now, heavenly FATHER, we beseech Thee to bless this whole household and family, and its absent members, [especially -] with the blessings wherewith Thou dost bless Thy people, giving us all, the healthful Spirit of Thy grace, that in the several conditions and vocations in life, in which it hath pleased Thee to place us, we may truly and godly serve Thee, with an eye single to Thy glory ; desiring above all things, to do Thy holy and blessed will. And grant unto us, we beseech Thee, such faith in Thy fatherly love, that we may cease to be careful for the things of this life, and may wholly be given up to seek after Thy kingdom and righteousness, committing ourselves to Thy providence, Who knowest whereof we have need.

We beseech Thee for all in authority; and herein especially for the ministers of Thy holy Church;

for our sovereign the Queen; and the council of this nation. And do Thou give willing and cheerful obedience to the ruled. Put down all lawlessness and rebellion among Thy people, and make them truly subject to those that are over them in the LORD, rendering unto all their dues, honour to whom honour, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear.

Hear us, we pray Thee, for all on whom Thy blessed and holy Name of FATHER, SON, and HOLY GHOST is placed, and who have been brought into covenant with Thee in holy Baptism: give them to apprehend the riches of Thy grace bestowed upon them, and to yield themselves unto Thee as those who are alive from the dead. Let Thy people be united in the holy bond of love, and be filled with Thy Spirit; truly calling JESUS, LORD; acknowledging Him in His ordinances; holding the Head, even CHRIST, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of GOD.

Have compassion upon all who are suffering the loss of relations, or friends, and especially the fatherless and the widow. Supply the wants of Thy people; be with those who go forth unto their work and labour unto the evening, and comfort their hearts with a due return for the same; deliver the poor from op

pression; give unto them patience and contentment; and hasten the coming kingdom of Thy Son, when the meek shall inherit the earth, and reward shall be given to Thy saints, both small and great, even to all that fear Thy Name, through JESUS CHRIST our LORD.

R. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer.

OUR FATHER, which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil : For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

R. Amen.

The Benediction.

The grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the love of GOD, and the communion of the HOLY GHOST, be with you, and with this whole household and family, this day, and for ever.

R. Amen.

WEDNESDAY EVENING.

Exhortation.

O come, let us worship, and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

Confession.

O most merciful God, Who, according to the multitude of Thy tender mercies, dost so put away the sins of those who truly repent, that Thou rememberest them no more; look in Thy compassion upon us Thy servants, who most earnestly desire Thy pardon and forgiveness; for in many things we have sinned against Thee; our thoughts have not been as Thy thoughts, nor our ways as Thy ways; but we have been unmindful of Thy covenant, and of Thy grace, and purpose in CHRIST JESUS. The things of this life have gained power over us; we have been anxious and careful about them, whilst we should have been careful only to know and do Thy holy and blessed will; and so we have failed to
