"And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light and they shall reign for ever and ever."-Rev. xxii. 5.

257 HIGH in yonder realms of light,

7's,double.

Far above these lower skies,
Fair and exquisitely bright,

Heaven's unfading mansions rise:
Glad within these blest abodes
Dwell the raptured saints above,
Where no anxious care corrodes,
Happy in Emmanuel's love.

2. Once indeed, like us below,

Pilgrims in this vale of tears,
Pain they knew, and heavy woe,
Gloomy doubts, distressing fears:
But, these days of weeping o'er,

Past this scene of toil and pain,
They shall feel distress no more,
Never, never weep again!

3. 'Mid the chorus of the skies,
'Mid the angelic lyres above,
Hark! their songs melodious rise,
Songs of praise to Jesu's love!
Happy spirits, ye are fled

Where no grief can entrance find;

Lulled to rest the aching head,

Soothed the anguish of the mind!

4. All is tranquil and serene,

Calm and undisturbed repose;
There no cloud can intervene,

There no angry tempest blows!
Every tear is wiped away,

Sighs no more shall heave the breast;

Night is lost in endless day,

Sorrow in eternal rest.

Holy Baptism.

"He shall feed His flock like a Shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with and carry them in His bosom."—Isa. xl. 11; cf. Mark x. 14.

His arm,

8's. &7's.

258 SAVIOUR, who Thy flock art feeding With the Shepherd's kindest care, All the feeble gently leading,

While the lambs Thy bosom share :—

2. Now, these little ones receiving,
Fold them in Thy gracious arm;
There, we know, Thy word believing,
Only there secure from harm.

3. Keep them safe from ever roving,
Let them not be Satan's prey;
Let Thy watchful care, so loving,
Keep them through life's dangerous way.

4. Then, within Thy fold in heaven,
Let them find their rest above;
Feed in pastures by Thee given,
Drink the rivers of Thy love.

5. Honour, glory, might, dominion,
To the Father, and the Son,

With the everlasting Spirit,

While eternal ages run. Amen.

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together."-Rom. viii. 16, 17.

259 ОH! what to Jesu's little flock

D.C.M.

Is worldly wealth or fame?

Among earth's wise and mighty ones

Why should we seek a name

?

A nobler name than earth can boast

To us is freely given :

"Member of Christ, the child of God,
"Inheritor of heaven."

2. Thou who didst wear the crown of thorns
And bear the cross for me,
Teach me to trace Thy footsteps here,
And meekly follow Thee:
May deeds of kindness and of love,
All gracious words and mild,
Goodness, and gentleness, and peace,
Mark out Thy little child.

"Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."-John iii. 5; cf. 1 Pet. iii. 21.

260 LAMB of God! for sinners slain,
7's. By Thy mercies born again,

For Thy guidance still we pray,
Lest from grace we fall away.

2. By the mystic cleansing flood,
By the water and the blood,
Washed and sanctified to Thee,
Pure and holy let us be.

3. Aid us with Thy daily grace;
Stedfastly to run our race;
Grant us victory in the strife,
And the prize of endless life.

4. Glory, praise from all on earth,
To the God of our new birth;
Praise Him, all ye heavenly host,

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

"As many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." Gal. iii. 27; cf. Rom. ii. 28, 29.

L.M.

261 0 YE, your Saviour's name who bear,
Who know the truth His words declare,
Are bought with His most precious blood,
Buried in His baptismal flood:-

2. Bear not the name of Christ alone,
If ye would reach His glorious throne;
Oh, never from His laws depart,

But Christians be in life and heart.

3. He who would reign with Christ above,
Must here, in faith and perfect love,
First tread that rough and thorny road,
Which Christ before him meekly trod.

4. He who his Saviour rightly knows,
And on his way devoutly goes,
When life is o'er shall sweetly rest,
And be with God for ever blest.
