"Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."-Matt. xxi. 9.

1 HOSANNA to the living Lord!
P.M. Hosanna to the Incarnate Word!
To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King,
Let earth, let heaven Hosanna sing!
Hosanna in the highest!

2. Hosanna, Lord! Thine angels cry;
Hosanna, Lord! Thy saints reply:
Above, beneath us, and around,
The dead and living swell the sound,
Hosanna in the highest!

3. Oh, Saviour, with protecting care
Return to this Thy house of prayer;
Assembled in Thy sacred Name,
Where we Thy parting promise claim:
Hosanna in the highest!

4. But chiefest in our cleansed breast,
Eternal! bid Thy Spirit rest,

And make our secret soul to be
A temple pure, and worthy Thee!
Hosanna in the highest!

5. So in the last and dreadful day,

When earth and heaven shall melt away,

Thy flock, redeemed from sinful stain,
Shall swell the sound of praise again,

Once for favoured sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints attending
Swell the triumph of His train:
Hallelujah!

God appears on earth to reign!

2. Every eye shall now behold Him,
Robed in dreadful Majesty:

Those who set at nought and sold Him,
Pierced and nailed Him to the tree,
Deeply wailing,

Shall the true Messiah see!

3. Now redemption, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear!

All His saints, by man rejected,
Rise to meet Him in the air!
Hallelujah!

See the day of God appear!

4. Yea, Amen! let all adore Thee,
High on Thine exalted throne!
Saviour! take the power and glory,
Claim the kingdoms for Thine own!
