the 29th Day of September laft we did iffue out a Summons, in Writing, under our Hands and Seals, directed to Dr. Richard Welton, Vicar of Eaft-Ham in the faid County of Effex, thereby requiring him perfonally to be and appear before us the faid Juftices, at the Angel Inn in Great Ilford, in the County aforefaid, this Day, being the ift Day of October, by Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, then and there to take the Oaths exprefs'd and appointed to be taken, in and by an Act of Parliament. made in the firft Year of the Reign of his Majefty King George, intitled, An Act for the farther Security of his Majesty's Perfon and Government, and the Succeffion of the Crown in the Heirs of the late Princess Sophia, being Proteftants, and for extinguishing the Hopes of the pretended Prince of Wales, and bis open and fecret Abettors, And we the faid Juftices do farther certify, That on the faid ift Day of October, Randolph Faint, one of the Conftables of the Parish of: Low-Layton in the faid County, did:

appear before us at the Angel-Inn in Great Ilford aforefaid, and made Oath, that on Friday the 30th Day of September last, in the Forenoon, he left the Summons abovemention'd at the Dwelling-House of the faid Dr. Richard Welton, in the Parish of Eaft-Ham aforefaid, with the Wife of the faid Doctor Richard Welton. And, laftly, we do certify, that the faid Doctor Richard Welton did neglect or refuse to appear before us, to take the said Oaths, at such Time and Place as is abovemention'd.

Thefe Practices against Dr. Welton, founded upon the unjuft Advanntage taken in his Abfence, by a peeremptory Summons for him to appear perfonally, within twenty four Hours,beforetwoJuftices of the Peace, in Effex, at a Time when he was fo Miles diftant from thence, carry the Fate with them, that is the general Confequence of fuch a Precipitancy as has been hurry'd on against him, which will appear by the many Abfurdities and Errors blunder'd in by fuch Over-baftiness, throughout the Certification of the Clerk of the Peace, rendering the whole irregular, null, and void, even according to the Tenor of the At it felf, as fhall be more particularly remark'd by and by.

on from one Dr. Freeman, and one March 3, Thomas Meare, wherein they call 1715, themselves the true and undoubted Patrons of the Rectory of WhiteChapel, and as fuch, thereby, prefent Doctor Shippen to that Rectory, which, they fay therein, is void, by the Amotion, as they call it, or Removal, (which the Law calls Deprivation, and which is not yet) of Doctor Welton; and, thereupon, defire that Doctor Shippen may be accordingly admitted, inftituted, and canonically vefted, or inducted into that Living, with all its Rights, Members, and Appurtenances, as Rector thereof; as appears by the following Copy, extracted out of the Registry of London.
