POSTSCRIPT. HAVING remarked when I fent the preceding addrefs to the Printer's, that I could no more enter the Church of Sutton with fatisfaction, as a Minifter, without fome teftimony of the approbation of thofe, who for fo many years had heard and known me; I think it now as neceffary to add, that the very liberal and reSpectable fubfcription, that has been entered into for the publication of the Sermon, by almost all the principal Inhabitants of the Parish who heard it, by the others who, at the time of its delivery, did not attend the Church, by the neighbouring Gentry and Clergy, and even by the Prefident of St. John's (my Tutor) and the College of which I was formerly a Member, is to me the most flattering, the most honourable, and mosft fatisfactory testimony, that the doctrines, I have fo long held in this place, have not been deemed contradictory to thofe of the Scriptures, or of our Church; and that my conduct in the vocation, whereunto I have been called, bas not deferved the cenfure, but on the contrary gained the efteem of those who have heard and known me. Returning then, as I do, my most fincere thanks to those respectable Subfcribers, who have honoured the publication with their names, I determine, never more to fet pen to paper on this fubject.
