this day began, whereas we are in the land of the living. How many have been visited with heavy calamity, oppressive trial, or sore sickness, whereas we are in health and peace! To thy mercy alone, we owe whatever, in our well-being and present condition, exceeds what thou hast appointed to others. But shall we not more especially praise thee that we have the means of grace, thy holy word, and the privilege of prayer, with the knowledge of salvation by Jesus Christ, while so many thousands of our fellow-sinners sit in spiritual darkness, and in the shadow of death! We ascribe to thee power, wisdom, might, and glory. We acknowledge thee to be the Lord, our Almighty and most merciful Father and Redeemer. And we humbly pray thee of thy great goodness to continue to us, thy manifold favours, and now and ever to number us with thy saints, through Jesus Christ, our mediator and advocate. Amen. Our Father, &c.

A CONCLUDING COLLECT.

SAVE, defend, and keep us, O God. Sanctify and bless us all. Shelter our bodies under the wing of thy providential care, and encircle our souls with the shield of thy defence, both now and evermore, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all now and evermore. Amen.
