this day began, whereas we are in the land of the living. How many have been visited with heavy calamity, oppressive trial, or sore sickness, whereas we are in health and peace! To thy mercy alone, we owe whatever, in our well-being and present condition, exceeds what thou hast appointed to others. But shall we not more especially praise thee that we have the means of grace, thy holy word, and the privilege of prayer, with the knowledge of salvation by Jesus Christ, while so many thousands of our fellow-sinners sit in spiritual darkness, and in the shadow of death! We ascribe to thee power, wisdom, might, and glory. We acknowledge thee to be the Lord, our Almighty and most merciful Father and Redeemer. And we humbly pray thee of thy great goodness to continue to us, thy manifold favours, and now and ever to number us with thy saints, through Jesus Christ, our mediator and advocate. Amen. A CONCLUDING COLLECT.

SAVE, defend, and keep us, O God. Sanctify and bless us all. Shelter our bodies under the wing of thy providential care, and encircle our souls with the shield of thy defence, both now and evermore, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SATURDAY MORNING.

SANCTIFY the Lord of Hosts himself; and let him be your fear; and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary. Isaiah viii. 13, 14.

The good Lord pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary. 2 Chronicles xxx. 18, 19.

Jesus said unto them, they that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke v. 31, 32.

Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter v. 6, 7.
