O FATHER of mercies, into whose hands we commend ourselves while darkness veils the face of the earth, give thy holy angels charge over us," to keep us in peace and safety, that we may awake in a renewed sense of thy bounty, and steadfast assurance of thy love towards us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

MAY the God of peace that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make us perfect in every good work to do his will, working in us that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.

Amen.

THURSDAY MORNING.

IF my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles vii. 14.

O Lord, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we are all the work of thy hand. Be not wroth very sore, O Lord, neither remember iniquity for ever; behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. Isaiah lxiv. 8, 9.

All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew xxi. 22.

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John vi. 37.

I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no Hebrews viii. 12.

PSALM XX.

CHRIST, THE REDEEMER

AND SAVIOUR OF

SINNERS.

1. The Lord said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. CX. 1.

2. I have set my king upon my holy hill of Sion. ii. 6.

3. He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.

4. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

5. He shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.

6. He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence; and precious shall their blood be in his sight. Ixxii. 2, 3, 12, 14.

7. He setteth the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock,

cvii. 41. 8. He shall stand at the right hand of the poor to save him from those that condemn his soul. cix. 31.

9. The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

10. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. xxxiv. 17, 18.

11. The Lord also will be a refuge for the pressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

12. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. ix. 9, 10.

13. His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. lxxii. 17.

14. O Lord of Hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. lxxxiv. 12.

PSALM XXI.

CHRIST, THE SHEPHERD OF HIS PEOPLE. 1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort

me.

5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. xxiii. 1-6.

PSALM XXII.

CHRIST, THE UPHOLDER AND DELIVERER OF HIS PEOPLE.

1. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. cxxi. 2.

2. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

3. The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. cxlv. 1, 14.

4. In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

5. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

6. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever; forsake not the works of thine own hands. cxxxviii. 3, 7, 8.

7. When I said, my foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.

8. In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul. xciv. 18, 19. Glory be, &c.
