PREFACE. THE writer of the following pages was born in 1845, and sweetly fell asleep in Jesus, after a brief illness, March 4th, 1873. Converted at the age of fifteen, without any human instrumentality, her one desire was to glorify the name of Jesus. At the request of many friends, some of her letters have been collected, in the hope that the Lord, who "gave" and who "hath taken away," may use them for His own glory in the comforting and establishing of His saints.
