I. GNOSTICISM AND AGNOSTICISM
“We know in part, and we prophesy in part : but
when that which is perfect is come, that which is in
part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake
as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child : now
that I am become a man, I have put away childish
things.”—1 CORINTHIANS xiii. 9-11.
II. UNION WITH CHRIST
** Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch can-
not bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine ; no
more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine,
ye are the branches : he that abideth in Me, and I in
him, the same bringeth forth much fruit ; for without
Me ye can do nothing.”—JOHN xv. 4, 5.
III. THE PURE IN HEART SHALL SEE GOD.
“ Blessed are the pure in heart : for they shall see
God.”—MATTHEW v. 8.
IV. ILL SUCCESS IN SEARCHING AFTER RIGHTEOUS-
“The Gentiles, which followed not after righteous-
ness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteous-
ness which is of faith : but Israel, which followed after
the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law
of righteousness.”—ROMANS ix. 30, 31.
