E dies! the Friend of finners dies!

Lo! Salem's daughters weep around!

A folemn darkness veils the skies!!

A fudden trembling fhakes the ground'!
Come faints, and drop a tear or two,
For him who groan'd beneath your load!
He fhed a thousand drops for you,
A thousand drops of richer blood!
II.

Here's love and grief beyond degree,
The Lord of glory dies for men !
But lo! what fudden joys we fee !
Jefus the dead revives again!
The rifing GOD forfakes the tomb !
(The tomb in vain forbids his rife !)
Cherubic legions guard him home,
And fhout him welcome to the skies!

III.

Break off your tears, ye faints and tell
How high our great deliv'rer reigns!
Sing how he fpoil'd the hofts of hell,

And led the monfter death in chains! Say Live for ever, wond'rous king! "Born to redeem and strong to fave;" Then afk the monster--" where's thy fting? "And where's thy victory, boasting

THANKSGIVING.

Y foul repeat his praise,

Με

Whose mercies are so great:
Whofe anger is fo flow to rife,
So ready to abate.

II.

High as the heav'ns are rais'd,
Above the ground we tread,
So far the riches of his grace,
Our highest thoughts exceed.
III.

The pity of the Lord,

To those that fear his name, Is fuch as tender parents feel: He knows our feeble frame,

IV.

Our days are as the grafs,

Or like the morning flow'r ;

If one sharp blaft fweep o'er the field,

It withers in an hour,

But thy compaffions, Lord,
To endless years endure;
And children's children ever find
Thy word of promise sure.

O God the only wife,

Our Saviour, and our King,

Let all the faints below the skies

'Tis his almighty love,

His counfel and his care,

Preferves us fafe from fin and death,
And ev'ry hurtful fnare.
III.

He will present his faints
Unblemish'd and compleat
Before the glory of his face,
With joys divinely great.
