3 Ocean lifts his voice on high;
Angry waves assault the sky;
Calmly o'er them sits the Lord,
And controls them by his word.

4 Midst the roarings of the sea,
Sweet it is to him to flee;

He is faithful, he is near,
Wherefore should his people fear?

PSALM XXXvi. 5-9.

IGH as the arched and starry skies
Above our earthly structures rise,
O God, thy mercy and thy grace,
Our highest hopes and thoughts surpass.
2 Mountains shall crumble into dust,
But thou canst ne'er become unjust;
And ocean's depths may be explored,
But who can comprehend the Lord?
3 Thou art unfathomed and alone,
Thy wisdom is a deep unknown,
Thy bounty and thy guardian care
We with all living creatures share.
4 How excellent thy works and ways,
Passing thy people's highest praise!
And sweet it is to love and trust
A God so wise, and good, and just.

5 Those who can trust thee, now possess
A satisfying happiness;

L. M.

And those who love thee, when they die,
Shall enter on eternal joy.

6 For from thyself, thou source of good,
Life flows an everlasting flood;

And, like the cloudless noon-day light,
Thy favor makes existence bright.

IGH in the heavens, Eternal God, Thy goodness in full glory shines; Thy truth shall break through every cloud, That veils and darkens thy designs.

2 For ever firm thy justice stands,
As mountains their foundation keep;
Wise are the wonders of thy hands,
Thy judgments are a mighty deep.

3 Thy providence is kind and large,
Both man and beast, thy bounty share;
The whole creation is thy charge,
But saints are thy peculiar care.

4 O God, how excellent thy grace,
Whence all our hope and comfort spring!
The sons of Adam in distress,

Fly to the shadow of thy wing.

5 All who have made thy grace their trust,
Are with rich blessings daily fed;
And endless comforts to the just,
Flow like a river in its bed.

6 Life like a fountain springs from thee.
From thee the streams of mercy flow ;
And when thy goodness shines, we see
That all things bright around us grow.

HI

MATTHEW Xxv. 40.

IGH on a throne of light, O Lord,
Dost thou exalted shine;
What can our wealth to thee afford,
Since the whole world is thine?
2 But thou hast brethren in distress,
Partakers of thy grace,

Whose humble names thou wilt confess,
Before thy Father's face.

3 In them thou may'st be clothed and fed,
And visited and cheered;

And when their tale of grief is spread,
Thy pleading voice is heard.

4 Their wants and sufferings to relieve,
We bring our gifts to day;

The humble tribute, Lord, receive,
Which we with gladness pay.

MATTHEW xi. 28-30.

HO! ye by sin and woe oppressed,

Jesus invites with love divine;

Come and enjoy a holy rest, Rest from your sorrow and your 2 While passion rages like a storm, And pride is restless as the wind;

Would ye have peace, to him conform,
And learn his meek and lowly mind.

3 Blest is the man whose shoulders take
His yoke, and bear it with delight;
His yoke is easy to the neck,

His service sweet, his burden light.

4 Lord, make them come at thy command,
Trust to thy cross alone for rest;
Submit to thy Almighty hand,
Receive thy yoke and so be blest.

1 CORINTHIANS iii. 16.

OLIEST source of consolation,
Light and life thy grace imparts;
Visit us in thy compassion,

Guide our minds, and fill our hearts.

2 Heavenly blessings, without measure,
Thou canst bring us from above;
Lord, we ask that heavenly treasure,
Wisdom, holiness, and love.

3 Dwell within us, blessed Spirit,
Where thou dwell'st no ill can come;
Bless us now, through Jesus' merit,
Reign in every heart and home.

4 Saviour, lead us to adore thee,

While thou dost prolong our days;
Then, with angel hosts before thee,
May we worship, love, and praise.

ROMANS XV. 13.

OLY Ghost, inspire our praises, Deign on every heart to move; Make us all to trust in Jesus,

Prove his power, and feel his love. 2 Source of sweetest consolation,

Breathe thy peace on all below: Bless, Oh, bless this congregation, On each soul thy grace bestow.

MATTHEW vi. 9.

HOLY, holy, holy Lord,

In the highest heavens adored, Author of all nature's frame, Father, hallowed be thy name. 2 Not by nature's tie alone, Thou art as our Father known, Nearer now in Christ our claim, Father, hallowed be thy name. 3 Thou hast given a filial heart, Thou our God and Father art; "Tis from thee the blessing came, Father, hallowed be thy name. 4 Born anew, oh, may we feel, More and more the Spirit's seal; Give thee all that thou dost claim, Father, hallowed be thy name.
