Oh, may we still abide in thee,

And fruit abundant bear.

MATT. xi. 28-30. JOHN i. 12.-vi. 37. ACTS xiii. 38, 39.

ISTEN, O sinner, to a voice,

L'

Which well may make thy heart rejoice;
Laden with sorrow, bring thy load
Unto thy Saviour and thy God.

2 Come unto Christ, be not afraid;
He died for thee, and he hath said,
To all by guilt and sin oppressed,
"Come unto me, I'll give you rest."
3 Whate'er thy weakness, guilt, and sin,
Troubles without and fears within,
No more in helpless misery roam,
But at his gracious bidding come.

4 Come as thou art, without one plea
But that his blood was shed for thee;
Only his promise now believe,
And thou thy pardon shalt receive.

5 Just as thou art, Oh, wait thou not
To cure one fault, to cleanse one spot,
Or for one folly to atone,

But trust his power and love alone.

6 He who was punished in thy place Has won for thee both life and grace; No more in unbelief delay,

But for thy pardon come to-day.

7 Come sinner, come, renounce thy sin,
And a new life to-day begin;

For all who trust-at once forgiven,
Are sons of God and heirs of heaven.

8 Away with sorrow, fear, and doubt,
For he will never cast thee out;
Come sinner, come, his yoke to bear,
And he will make thy wants his care.
9 Come sinner, Jesus will receive,

Will pardon, cleanse, renew, relieve; Trust to his power, his love divine, And wisdom, pardon, grace are thine. 10A love whose greatness is unknown, A love by such forgiveness shown, Which could such boundless blessings give, Such sufferings bear that we might live, 11 This love, surpassing knowledge, is The price by which he made us his : Come sinner, come, with love and praise Serve him through thy remaining days.

ISAIAH lv. 6-7.

LISTEN sinner, judgments chasten,
God in mercy to you calls;

Bids you to the Saviour hasten
E'er the bolt of vengeance falls:

Listen sinner,

Death invades the proudest halls.

8. 7. 4.

2 He who rends the rocks asunder,

Marks the path you dare to tread;
Soon the storm of wrath shall thunder
Over your unsheltered head:
Seek the refuge,

Lest the lightnings strike you dead.

3 Hasten, hasten, to the Saviour,
Ask for mercy while you may;
Change your godless, proud, behaviour,
E'er the moment pass away:
Hasten sinner,

321

You must perish if you stay.

O, he comes with clouds descending, Once for favored sinners slain; Thousand, thousand saints attending, Swell the triumph of his train: Hallelujah,

Jesus shall for ever reign.

2 Every eye shall now behold him,
Robed in dreadful majesty ;

Those who set at nought and sold him,
Pierced and nailed him to the tree,
Deeply wailing,

Shall the true Messiah see.

3 Millions to their doom are waking, Sun and stars their light have shed;

Heaven and earth their place forsaking
At his awful look have fled:
While the trumpet

Summons loud the quick and dead.
4 Now redemption, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear!
All his saints, by man rejected,
Rise to meet him in the air:
Hallelujah,

See the day of God appear.
5 Yea, Amen, let all adore thee,
High, on thine eternal throne;
Saviour, take the power and glory,
Claim the kingdom for thine own;
Oh, come quickly,

Hallelujah, come, Lord, come.

L. M.

Sin has wrought havoc on our earth;
By it from Eden's bliss we fell,
And 'tis the certain road to hell.

2 It has made man a wretched slave,
And hurried millions to the grave;
War, slavery, vice, and crime attest
The awful omnipresent pest.

3 It brought on man the avenging flood,
It burned the plain where Sodom stood;
It has dragged angels from the sky,
And made the Son of God to die.

4 When christians wander, who can know How far their sin and guilt will go? Peter, who did his Lord deny,

With oaths confirmed his hateful lie.

5 See wretched Lot within his cave; See David of his lusts the slave; Idols by Solomon adored,

And Jonah fleeing from the Lord.

6 Sin doth disgrace the christian's name,
Loads him with fear, involves in shame;
And causes many a bitter pain
Before his peace returns again.

7 O God, from evil keep us free,
And make us ever live to thee;

Reign thou our conquered hearts within,
And through thy grace we shall not sin.

ISAIAH lv. 1. MATTHEW xxii. 9.

LORD, at thy table we behold
The wonders of thy grace;

But most of all admire that we
Are welcome to a place.

2 We, laden with the guilt of sin,
And rebels to our God;

We, who have crucified thy Son,
And trampled on his blood.

3 What wondrous god-like grace is this,
That we should there find room;
