PSALM xlviii. 14. ISAIAH xxv. 8.

HE God who created the skies,

THE

L. M.

The strength and support of his saints, Who gives them all needful supplies, And hearkens to all their complaints, 2 This God is the God we adore, Our faithful, unchangeable, friend, Whose love is as great as his power, And neither knows measure nor end. 3 'Tis Jesus, the first and the last, Whose Spirit shall guide us safe home; We'll praise him for all that is past, And trust him for all that's to come.

PSALM Xvii. 15. 1 JOHN iii. 2.

518 REVELATION Xxii. 4. COLOSSIANS iii. 4.
THE
HE God who reigns above, we call
Our Father and our Friend,
And, blessed thought, his children all
Shall see him in the end.

shall see

C. M.

2 Though now unknown, they then shall be,
The sons of God confessed;
Those that disown them now,
That they alone are blessed.
3 Then let us while we are on earth,
With foes and strangers mixed,
Be mindful of our heavenly birth,
Our thoughts on glory fixed.

4 We're called to glorify him here,
To seek celestial bliss;

And when the Saviour shall appear,
He will declare us his.

MATTHEW X. 16. 1 JOHN ii. 6.

HE gospel calls to peace and love,
And bids us, as believers, be
Like serpents wise, and like the dove,
Adorned with meek simplicity.

2 If e'er unholy tempers rise,
Anger, or pride, or selfish strife,
To Jesus we will lift our eyes,
Bright pattern of the christian life.

3 For he was meek, and good, and kind,
Lowly, and ready to forgive;
And meet it is his faultless mind,
Should be the rule by which we live.
4 To do his heavenly Father's will
Was his employment and delight;
While constant love and holy zeal,
Shone through his life divinely bright.
5 He raised to strength the palsied frame,
He healed the sick, he soothed distress;
And scattering good where'er he came,
He lived to love, he toiled to bless,

6 Thy fair example, Lord, we trace
To teach us what we ought to be;
Oh, grant us thy transforming grace,
To make us daily more like thee.

EPHESIANS ii. 8, 9.

1 THE gospel comes with welcome news Of pardon full and free;

C. M.

Their various schemes while others choose,
Saviour, we come to thee.

2 Of merit never can we speak,
For merit we have none,
But justified for Jesus' sake,
We're saved by grace alone

3 'Twas grace our wayward hearts first won,
'Tis grace that holds us fast;
Grace will complete the work begun,
And save us at the last.

4 Then shall our souls, with rapture, trace
The love that sets us free;

And celebrate redeeming grace
Throughout eternity.

ISAIAH xl. 6.

C. M.

1 THE grass and flowers which clothe the field, And look so green and gay,

Touched by the scythe, defenceless yield,
And fall, and fade away.

2 Ah, trust not to your fleeting breath,
Nor call your time your own;

Around you look, the scythe of death
In mowing thousands down.

3 The grass, when dead, revives no more,
We, die to live again;

But oh, if death should prove the door
To everlasting pain!

4 Make sinners, Lord, to hear thy call,
That from their sins set free,

When, like the grass, their bodies fall,
Their souls may rise to thee.

PSALM XIX. MALACHI iv. 2. JOHN i. 4.

THE

L. M.

HE heavens declare thy glory, Lord, In every star thy wisdom shines; But when our eyes behold thy word, We read thy name in fairer lines. 2 Thy noblest wonders here we view, In souls renewed and sins forgiven; Lord, now the dead in sins renew, And make thy word their guide to heaven. 3 Great Sun of Righteousness, arise, Bless the dark world with heavenly light; Thy gospel makes the simple wise; Thy laws are pure, thy judgments right. 4 Let not thy spreading gospel rest Till through the world thy truth has run ; Till Thou hast all the nations blessed, That see the light or feel the sun.

ISAIAH XXV. 6.

MATTHEW Xxii. 2-14.-xxv. 11, 12, 30. C. M.

1 THE king of heaven hath made a feast,

In honor of our Lord;

Not paradise, though bright and blest,
Could such delight afford.

2 Pardon and peace to dying men,
And endless life are given,

Through the rich blood that Jesus shed
To raise our souls to heaven.

3 Millions have come to share the joy,
And millions more may come;
Nor could the whole assembled world
O'erfill the spacious room.

4 Come sinner to the feast to-day,
Choose not despair and shame;
Ask for admission while you may,
Ask in the Saviour's name.

JOHN i. 17. HEBREWS iii. 2-6.

HE law by Moses came,

THE

But peace, and truth, and love,

Were brought by Christ, a nobler name
Descending from above.

2 Within the house of God,

3

Their different works were done:
Moses a faithful servant stood,

But Christ a faithful Son.

Then to his high commands

Be all obedience paid:

For o'er his Father's house he stands
The Sovereign and the Head.
