p 2 Thes. iii. 1. Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified even as it is with you. Psal. cxlvii. 19, 20. He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. He hath not dealt so with any nation and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the Lord. Psal. cxxxviii. 1, 2, 3. I will praise thee with my whole heart, before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. I will worship towards thy holy temple, and praise thy name, for thy loving-kindness, and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. In the day when I cried, thou answeredst me: and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. 2 Cor. ii. 14, 15. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.

A. In the second petition, (which is, Thy kingdom come,a) acknowledging ourselves, and all mankind, to be by nature under the dominion of sin and Satan, we pray, that the kingdom of sin and Satan may be destroyed, the gospel

Q. 192. What do we pray for in the third petition?

A. In the third petition, (which is, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,°) acknowledging that by nature we and all men are not only utterly unable and unwilling to know and do the will of God, but prone to rebel against freshed. 2 Thess. i. 11. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of his calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power. 2 Thess. ii. 16, 17. Now, our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

1 Eph. iii. 14 to 21. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man: that Christ may dwell in your, hearts by faith that ye being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints, what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
