For whom alfo, as he was coming to Jerufalem to fulfill the fcriptures, a multitude of faithful people with a zealous devotion spread their garments together with palm-branches in the way: grant, we beseech thee, that we may prepare him the way of faith, out of which the ftone of offence and the rock of fcandal being removed, our actions may flourish with branches of righteousness, so that we may be worthy to follow his steps. Others spread ther garments in the way, others cut branches from the trees; and those who followed, cried out: Hofanna, bleffed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord, and bleffed be the reign of our father David: Hofanna in the highest heavens. When the people heard, that Jefus was coming to Jerufalem, they took palm-branches, and went out to meet him and the children cried out, faying: This is he, who is to come for the falvation of the people. He is our falvation, and the redemption of Ifrael. How great is he, whom the thrones and dominations go out to meet! Fear not, O alligatum, fuper quem nullus hominum fedit; folvite, & adducite mihi. At the return of the Proceffion, two or four Chanters go into the Church, and fhutting the door, with their faces towards the Proceffion, fing the two firft verfes: Gloria, laus, &c. which are repeated by the Priest and the others without the Church. Then they that are within, fing the other following verfes and they that are without, after every two verses, anfwer, Gloria, laus, &c.
