Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you.

Matt. 23:2, 3

Luke

12:42

Luke

[blocks in formation]

The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: All, there-
fore, whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; 26
but do not ye after their works: for they say and do not.

Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their 27 portion of meat in due season?

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh 12:43 shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he 28 44 will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Luke

But, and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and 29 12:45 maidens, and to eat, and drink, and to be drunken;

Luke

The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will 12:46 cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

Luke 12:47

30

And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared
not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten 31
with many stripes.

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, Luke shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is 12:48 given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

THERE ARE NO DEAD

-Ps. 78:25.

But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read 2 that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

3

Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when
he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and
the God of Jacob. He is not the God of the dead, but the God
of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

Let her alone against the day of my burying hath she kept John this.

12:7

Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach 7 hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless but believing.

Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come 8 again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth forever.

FRIENDS

APR.

John Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down 15:13 his life for his friends.

9

John Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15:14

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth John not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for 15:15 all things that I have heard of my Father I have made. known unto you.

But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee 13 no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness: that, when ye fail, they may 14 receive you into everlasting habitations.

When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neigh14:12 bors; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

MAN, LORD OF THE SABBATH

Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, Matt. and they that were with him;

How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the
shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither
for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

12:3

Matt.

12:4

18

Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath
days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and
are blameless?

Matt.

12:5

19

But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than
the temple.

Matt. 12:6

20

For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. Thou
hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose
his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to water-
ing?

Matt.

12:8

Luke 13:15

21

What man shall there be among you, that shall have one
sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he
not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

Matt.

12:11

[blocks in formation]

How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore
it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days.

Matt. 12:12

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

-I Cor. 10:31.

Bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

SHEEP AMONG WOLVES

-Ps. 104:15.

APR.

Matt. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: 23 10:16 be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Matt. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the 24 10:17 councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

Matt. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake; but 10:22 he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

25

Matt.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of 26 10:25 the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to Matt. kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

10:28

27

Matt.

10:36

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

28

Matt. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his 10:39 life for my sake shall find it.

29

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me and eat ye that which is good.

-Is. 55:2.
