The pricks reproved. THEN

Chap. xlv. 'HEN he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward fanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was thut.

1 Then faid the LORD unto me, This gate thall be thut, it shall not be opeaed, and no man shall enter in by it: because the LORD the God of Ifrael hath entered in by it, therefore it fhall be shut.

3 It is for the prince: the prince, he shall fit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he fhall enter by the way of the porch of that gate, and thall go out by the way of the fame.

4 Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the houfe: and I looked, aud, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the houfe of the Lord: and I fell upon my face.

5 And the LORD faid unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I fay unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark, well the entering in of the houfe, with every going forth of the fanctuary.

6 And thou shalt fay to the rebellious, even to the house of Ifrael, Thus faith the Lord GOD, Oye houfe of Ifrael, let it fuffice you of all our abominations,

7 In that ye have brought into my fancfuary ftrangers uncircumcited in heart and uncircumcited in flesh, to be in my fanctuary, to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant, becaufe of all your

abominations.

8 And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have fet keepers of my charge in my fanctuary for yourselves.

Thus faith the Lord GOD; No stranger, uncircumcifed in heat, nor uncircumcifed in fleth, thall enter into my fanctuary, of any franger that is among the children of Ifrael. 10 And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Ifrael went attray, which went aftray away from me after their idols; they fhall even bear their iniquity.

1 Yet they shall be minifters in my fanetuary, having charge at the gates of the houfe, and minintering to the houfe: they shall lay the burnt offering, and the facrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minifter unto them.

12 Because they ministered unto them be fore their idols, and caufed the houfe of If rael to fall into iniquity; therefore have I Lifted up mine hand against them, faith the Lord Gop, and they thall bear their iniquity. 13 And they thall not come near unto me, to do the office of a prief unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things, In the most holy place: but they mall bear their fhame, and their abominations which they have committed.

14 But I will make them keepers of the charge of the houfe for all the fervice thereef, and for all that shall be done therein.

Zadok, that kept the charge of my fanc

15 But the pricfts the Levites, the fons of

tuary, when the children of Ifrael went aftray from me, they shall come near to me to miniiter unto me, and they thall ftand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, faith the Lord Gop:

16 They shall enter into my fanétuary, and they fhall come near to my table, to minister auto me, and they shall keep my charge,

Ordinances for them. 17 And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments a and no wool thall come upon them, while they minifter in the gates of the inner court, and within.

18 They hall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and fhall have linen breeches upon their loins: they shall not gird themfelves with any thing that causeth feat.

19 And when they go torth into the out. er court, even into the outer court to the people, they thall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they hall put on other garments; and they fhall not fanctify the people with their garments.

20 Neither thall they have their heads, nor fuifer their locks to grow long; they fhall only poll their heads.

21 Neither hall any prieft drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.

22 Neither thall they take tor their wives a widow, nor her that is put away; but they fhall take maidens of the feed or the house of Ifrael, or a widow that had a pricit before.

23 And they hall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and caule them to difcern between the unclean and the clean.

24 And in controverfy they shall ftand in judgment; and they thall judge it accord. ing to my juigments: and they thall keep my laws and my ftatutes in all mine afleniblies; and they hall hallow my fabbaths.

25 And they fhall come at nodead pers fon to defile themselves: but for idcher, or for mother, or for fon, or for daughter, for brother, or for fiter that hath had no but. band, they may defile themselves.

26 And after he is cleanfed, they fhall reckon unto him feven days.

27 And in the day that he goeth into the fanctuary, unto the inuer court, to minister in the fanctuary, he shall offer his fin offer. ing, faith the Lord GOD.

28 And it fhall be unto them for an io. heritance: I am their inheritance: and ye fhall give then no poffeffion în Ifrael: I do their poffeilion.

29 They shall eat the meat offering, and the fin offering, and the trefpafs offering and every dedicated thing in ffract tali be their's.

30 And the first of all the fir fruits of alt things, and every oblation of all, of every fort of your oblations thall be the pricfts: ye thall alfo give unto the priest the art of your dough, that he may caute the blc.fing to rett in thine houfe.

31 The priests shall not eat of any thing that is deal of itfelf, or torn, whether it be fowl or beaft.

13 This is the oblation that ye thall offer; the fixth part of an ephah of an homer of wheat, and ye shall give the fixth part of an ephah of an homer of barley.

14 Concerning the ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, re ball offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer:

19 And the priest thall take of the blood of the fin offering, and put it upon the pots of the houfe, and upon the four corners of the fettle of the altar, and upon the pots of the gate of the inner court.

20 And to thou shalt do the feventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is fimple: fo fhall ye reconcile the house.

10 And the prince in the midt of them, when they go in, thall go in; and when they go forth, fhall go forth.

11 And in the fearts and in the folemnities the meat offering fhall be an ephah to a bullock, and an ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephan.

12 Now when the prince fhall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings voluntarily unto the LORD, one thall then open him the gate that looketh toward the eart, and he fhall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the fabbath day: then he thall go forth: and after his going forth one thall that the gate.

13 Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt of fering unto the LORD of a lamb of the firit year without blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.

14 And thou shalt prepare a meat offering for it every morning, the fixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a meat offering continually, by a perpetual ordinance unto the LORD.

13 Thus fhall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning for a continual burnt offering.

16 Thus faith the Lord GOD; If the prince give a gift onto any of his fons, the inheritance thereof thall be his fons, it shall be their pofefion by inheritance.

17 But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his fervants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after it thall return to the prince: but his inheritance shall be his fons for them.

18 Moreover, the prince fhall not take of the people's inheritance by oppreffion, to thrust them out of their poffeffion; but he shall give his fons' inheritance out of his own poffettion: that my people be not feattered every man from his poffeffion.

19 After he brought me through the entry, which was at the fite of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which looked toward the north; and, behold, there was a place on the two fides weftward.

20 Then faid he unto me, This is the place where the priefs thall boil the trefpafs offering and the fin offering, where they fall bake the meat offering; that they bear them not out into the outer court, to fanctify the people.

21 Then he brought me forth into the outer court, and caufed me to pafs by the four corners of the court: and, behold, in every corner of the court there was a court."

22 In the four Lorners of the court there were courts joined of forty cubits long and Thirty broad: these four cornets were of one

23 And there was a row of building round about in them, round about them four, and it was made with boiling places under the rows round about.

2 Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the outer gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he meafured a thonfand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ancles.

4 Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.

5 Afterwards he meafured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were rifen, waters to fwim in, a river that could not be paired over.

6 And he faid unto me, Son of man, haft thou feen this? Then he brought me, and caufed me to retura to the brink of the river.

7 Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one fide and on the other.

8 Then faid he unto me, Thefe waters iffue out toward the caft country, and go down into the defert, and go into the fei: sebich being brought forth into the fea, the waters thall be healed.

9 And it thall come to pass that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whitherfocver the river fhall come, thall live: and there thall be a very great multitude of fish, because thele waters thall come thither: for they fhall be healed; and every thing thall live whither the river cometh.

10 And it thall come to pass that the fishers. fhall ftand upon it from En-edien unto En-egiain; they all be a place to spread forth nets; their fith fhall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great fea, exceed. ing many.

11 But the miry places thereof and the marthes thereof shall not be healed; they fhall be given to falt.

12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this fide and on that fide, thall grow all trecs for meat, whofe leaf fhall not fade, neither fall the fruit thereof be confumed it fhall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they inded out of the fanctuary: and the fruit thereof thall be for meat, and the lear thereof for me dicine.

13 Thus faith the Lord Gon; This all be the border whereby ye thall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of raci: Jofeph hall have two portions.

14 And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another; concerning the which I litted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: aud this land thall fall unto you for inheritance.

Jehoiaking's captivity. 3 penaz taketh Daniel, Hananich, Mishael, and Azariah: 8 they, refufing the king's portion, do prof per with pulfe and water: 17 their excellency in wifdom.

IN N the third year of the reign of Jehniškim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerufalem, and besieged

it.

2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the veffels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the houfe of his god; and he brought the veifels into the treasure houfe of his god.

3 And the king ipake unto Afhpenaz the matter of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Ifrael, and of the king's feed, and of the princes;

4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wifdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding fcience, and fuch as bad ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach, the learning and the tongue of the Chal

deans.

5 And the king appointed them a daily provifion of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: fo nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might itand before the king.

6 Now among there were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Michael, of Methach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.

8 But Daniel purpofed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

9 Now God had brought Daniel into fa vour and tender love with the prince of the

Eunuchs.

10 And the prince of the eunuchs faid anto Daniel, I fear iny lord the king, who math appointed your meat and your ink:

[blocks in formation]

13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenances of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou feest," deal with thy fervants.

14 So he confented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

15 And at the end of ten days their coun tenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the por. tion of the king's meat.

16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulfe.

17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wifdom: and Daniel had understanding in all vifions and dreams.

18 Now at the end of the days that the king had laid he thould bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mithael, and Azariah = therefore stood they betore the king.

20 And in all matters of wisdom and un derstanding that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and aftrologers that were in all his realm.

21 And Daniel continued even unto the firit year of king Cyrus.
