ance, that thy Church may joyfully ferve thee in all godly quietnefs, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

The Epiftle. 1 St Peter. iii. 8.

BE E ye all of one mind, having compaffion one of another,

love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous; not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but contrariwife, bleffing, knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye fhould inherit a bleffing. For he that will love life, and fee good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they fpeak no guile. Let him efchew evil, and do good; let him feek peace, and enfue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his cars are open unto their prayers but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye fuffer for righteousness fake, happy are ye, and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; but fanctify the Lord God in your hearts.

The Gospel. St Luke v. 1..

T came to pafs, that as the people preffed upon him to hear the word of God, he ftood by the lake of Gennefareth; and faw two fhips ftanding by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the fhips, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thruft out a little from the land and he fat down, and taught the people out of the fhip. Now when he had left fpeaking, he said unto

On the COLLECT for the fifth Sunday after Trinity.

O God, who haft prepared for those who are devoted to thy fervice, things which neither eye hath feen, nor ear hath heard, nor have entered into the heart of man to conceive, (1 Cor. ii. 9.) we beseech thee to pour into our hearts fo fincere a love of thee, that we preferring thee before all things, may carefully acquit ourselves of all that thou haft commanded, that we may obtain the promised reward of eternal life, which is fo great a to exceed all other wishes; this we beg for the fake of our Saviour Jefus Chrift. Amen,

Simon, Lanch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon anfwering, faid unto him, Mafter, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing; nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclofed a great multitude of fishes, and their net brake. And they beckened unto their partners which were in the other fhip, that they should come and help them. And they came and filled both the fhips, fo that they began to fink. When Simon Peter faw it, he fell down at Jefus knees, faying, Depart from me, for I am a finful man, O Lord. For he was aftonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: and fo was alfo James and John the fons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jefus faid unto Simon, Fear not, from henceforth thou fhalt catch men. And when they had brought their fhips to land, they forfook all, and followed him.

The Epiftle. Rom. vi. 3.

NOW ye not, that fo many of us as were baptized into Jefus Chrift, were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptifm into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even fo we alfo fhould walk in newnefs of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be alfo in the likeness of his refurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of fin might be deftroyed, that henceforth we fhould not ferve fin. For he that is dead, is freed from fin. Now if

we

we be dead with Chrift, we believe that we fhall also live with him; knowing, that Chrift being raised from the dead, dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto fin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewife reckon ye also yourfelves to be dead indeed unto fin: but alive unto God, through Jefus Christ our Lord.

The Gospel. St Matth. v. 20.

ESUS faid unto his difciples, Except your righteousness fhall exceed the righteoufnefs of the fcribes and Pharifees, ye fhall in no cale enter into the kingdom of heaven. Ye have heard, that it was faid by them of old time, Thou fhalt not kill: and whofoever fhall kill, fhall be in danger of the judgment. But I fay unto you, That whofoever is angry with his brother without a caufe, fhall be in danger of the judgment: and whofoever fhall fay to his brother, Raca, fhall be in danger of the council: but whofoever. fhall fay, Thou fool, fhall be in danger of hell-fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remembereft that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adverfary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; left at any time the adverfary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be caft into prifon. Verily I fay unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, til! thou haft paid the uttermoft farthing.

The Epistle. Rom. vi. 19.

Speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh for as ye have yielded your members fervants to uncleannefs, and to iniquity, unto iniquity; even fo now yield your members fervants to righteoufnefs, unto holinefs. For when ye were the fervants of fin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in thofe things whereof ye are now afhamed? for the end of thofe things is death. But now being made free from fin, and become fervants to God, ye have your fruit unto holinefs, and the end everlafting life. For the wages of fin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jefus Chrift our Lord.

The Gospel. St Mark viii. 1.

'N thofe days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jefus called his difciples unto him, and faith unto them, I have compaffion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat: And if I fend them away fafting to their own houfes, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far. And his difciples aniwered him, From whence can a man fatisfy thefe men with bread here in the wilderness? And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they faid, Seven. And he commanded the people to fit down on the ground: and he took the feven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his difciples to fet before them and they did fet them before the people. And they had a few fmall fishes; and he bleffed, and commanded to

The Epiftle. Rom. viii. 12.

Rethren we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh for if ye live after the flesh, ye fhall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the fons of God. For ye have not received the fpirit of bondage again to fear: but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs : heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Chrift: if fo be that we suffer with him, that we may be alfo glorified together.
