PREFACE.

THE contents of this volume are in part made up of original matter,* and in part of selections from the ablest English writers. It would be difficult to find in the language more important and vital truths in the same compass. The chapter, WHAT TO BELIEVE, from "James' Anxious Inquirer," has been blessed to the salvation of many souls. Some of the chapters, published in tract form, have been equally efficacious in producing the richest experience of God's saving grace through Jesus Christ. Examples of such experience are known to us. We send forth this little book with the hope and prayer that it will be abundantly useful in the salvation of souls by the Power of the Holy Spirit, bringing multitudes to a knowledge of Him, whom to know, is LIFE ETERNAL.

Articles "Holiness to the Lord" and "The Lord an Everlasting Light" were written by Rev. R. W. Clark, of the First Reformed Dutch Church, Albany, N. Y.
