PREFACE.

THIS Sermon is published at the request of the Churchwardens. I had no idea when I wrote it that such a request would be made. To refuse to accede to it would indeed be ungracious, especially as they were good enough to press the matter. A pleasing incident connected with the occasion when this Sermon was preached deserves to be recorded. The Wesleyans of the parish voluntarily closed their place of worship, and joined their brethren in their praises and thanksgivings at the Parish Church.
