Thus faith the Lord of Hofts, there fhall yet be old men and old women dwell in the ftreets of Jerufalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age. And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof. Thus faith the Lord of Hofts, If [or though] it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in thefe days, fhould it also be marvellous in mine eyes?

"It fhall yet come to pafs, that there fhall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities; and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, faying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to feek the Lord of Hofts: I will go alfo. Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to feek the Lord of Hofts in Jerufalem, and to pray before the Lord. i Mr. Mede fuggefted the idea of Chrift's appearing to the Jews fomewhat in the fame manner as he appeared to St. Paul at his converfion, and was inclined to think this hinted at by St. Paul himself, in 1 Tim. i. 16. and by our Saviour, Matt. xxiv. 29, 30. which he supposed to refer to Zech, xii. 11. but confidering the "tribulation” which was to immediately precede "the coming of the Son of Man," as referring folely to the Jews, he found it difficult to reconcile these ideas together.
