A Harmony of the Kings and Prophets: Or, An Arrangement of the History Contained in the Books of Kings and Chronicles, Together with the Writings of the Prophets Introduced in Chronological Order as They Were Delivered, Commencing with the Revolt of the Ten Tribes , and Closing with the Prophecy of MalachiStephen Merrill The Old Testament contains writings that span approximately 2,000 years of history, but they are not arranged in chronological order. In addition, books of the Bible that overlap are not always found alongside one another. This book edited by Biblical scholar Stephen Merrill attempts to harmonize these disparate writings into one continuous document. The history contained in the Books of Kings and the Books of Chronicles is rearranged into a single chronological order. Beginning with the deaths of the prophet Samuel and King David, the narrative presents the rise and fall of the twin kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Throughout the chronology, the prophetic writings found throughout the Old Testament are placed into their proper historical context. |
