Acts i. 14. Then all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Matt. x. 32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Rom. x. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 1 John iv. 15. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 1 Tim. ii. 1. I exhort you therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men. 1 Pet. ii. 4, 5. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious, ye also as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Acts. xxvi. 25. But he said, I am not mad most noble Festus, but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. 1 Pet. iv. 7. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer. 1 Cor. xiv. 2, 3, 4. 11. 13–19. For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth, speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort, he that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself, but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh, a barbarian; and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. Wherefore, let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret. Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

Doubtless thou art our Father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our Father, our Redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. Luke xi. 11, 12, 13. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a Father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish will he give him a serpent? or if he ask an egg will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him. Rom. viii. 15.
