PSALM XXVII.

CONTINUE, Lord, to hear my voice,
Whene'er to thee I cry ;
In mercy all my pray'rs receive,
Nor my request deny,

When us to seek thy glorious face
Thou kindly dost advise;

"Thy glorious face I'll always seek," My grateful heart replies.

Then hide not thou thy face, O Lord,

Nor me in wrath reject;

My God and Saviour, leave not him
Thou didst so oft protect.

The earth on its basis
Eternal sustain'd

Is fixed in the station
Thy wisdom ordain'd.

The man with the sun
His labour renews ;
Till evening arrives,
That labour pursues.
Such, Lord, is the wisdom

Thy works all proclaim;
Let earth, crown'd with riches,
Rejoice in thy name.

Thus, Lord, let me sing,
Thy glory to raise,
Delightful the strain

When tun'd to thy praise;
The vile have their suff'rings,
The just their reward;
Bless God, O my spirit!
O praise ye the Lord!

ANTHEMS.

ANTHEM FOR CHRISTMAS.

BEHOLD a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, God with us. Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and are come to worship him. He shall be great, and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his Father David. And he shall reign for ever and ever.

2nd ANTHEM FOR CHRISTMAS.

BEHOLD the Lord hath proclaimed unto the ends of the world. Say ye to the daughter of Zion, behold thy salvation cometh. Behold his reward is with him, and his work before him. He giveth light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death. He guideth their feet into the way of peace.

Blessed be his glorious name for ever and ever. Let the earth be full of his glory.

Amen.

ANTHEM FROM THE 68th PSALM. 32, 34, 35, VERSES.

SING unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth: O sing praises unto the Lord.

Ascribe ye power to God: his worship and strength is in the clouds.

O Lord, wonderful art thou in all thy works. Thou wilt give strength and power unto thy people. Blessed be God, Hallelujah! Blessed be God, Hallelujah!

ANTHEM FROM THE 84th PSALM. 1, 2, 4, VERSEs.

HOW beautiful are thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts!

My soul hath a desire and a longing to enter into the courts of the Lord.

Blessed are they that dwell in thy house; they will alway be praising Thee.
