1 SAVIOUR, breathe an evening blessing, Ere repose our spirits seal;

Sin and want we come confessing-
Thou canst save, and thou canst heal.

2 Though destruction walk around us,
Though the arrow past us fly,
Angel guards from thee surround us,
We are safe, if thou art nigh.

3 Though the night be dark and dreary,
Darkness cannot hide from thee;
Thou art he, who, never weary,
Watchest where thy people be.

4 Should swift death this night o'ertake us,
And our couch become our tomb;
May the morn in heaven awake us,
Clad in bright and deathless bloom.

1 PART in peace! Christ's life was peace; Let us live our life in him;

Part in peace! Christ's death was peace;
Let us die our death in him.

2 Part in peace! Christ promise gave
Of a life beyond the grave;

Where all mortal partings cease;
Holy brethren, part in peace!

Tune-"Minchin Hampton."

1 YE souls that trust in Christ, rejoice,
Your sins are all forgiven;

Let every Christian lift his voice,
And sing the joys of heaven.

[ground,

We are marching through Immanuel's
And soon shall hear the trumpet sound.
We hope with Jesus then to reign,
And never, never part again.

What! never part again!

No, never part again.

We hope with Jesus then to reign,
And never, never part again.

2 Heaven is that holy, happy place,
Where sin no more defiles,

Where God our Saviour shows his face
In endless love and smiles.

We are marching, etc.

3 When saints are free from every load
Of passions or of pains;

God dwells in them, and they in God,
And love for ever reigns.

We are marching, etc.

THE CHURCH MEETING.

C. M.

1 NOT unto us, but thee alone,
Blest Lamb! be glory given;
Here shall thy praises be begun,
And carried on in heaven.

2 The hosts of spirits now with thee
Eternal anthems sing:

To imitate them here, lo! we
Our hallelujahs bring.

3 Had we our tongues like them inspired,
Like theirs our songs should rise-
Like them we never should be tired,
But love the sacrifice.

4 Till we the veil of flesh lay down,
Accept our weaker lays;

And when we reach thy Father's throne,
We'll give thee nobler praise.

1 KINDRED in Christ, for his dear sake,
A hearty welcome here receive :
May we together now partake
The joys which only he can give.

2 May he, by whose kind care we meet, Send his good Spirit from above, Make our communications sweet,

And cause our hearts to burn with lore.

3 Forgotten be each worldly theme, When Christians meet together thus ; We only wish to speak of him

Who lived, and died, and reigns for us.

S. M.

1 LET party names no more

The Christian world o'erspread, Gentile and Jew, and bond and free, Are one in Christ their head.

2 Among the saints on earth
Let mutual love be found;
Heirs of the same inheritance,
With mutual blessings crowned.

3 Let bitterness and wrath

Be banished far away;

Those should in strictest friendship dwell, Who the same Lord obey.

4 Thus will the church below
Resemble that above,

Where streams of endless pleasure flow,
And every heart is love.

1 GLORIOUS things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God!

He whose word cannot be broken,
Formed thee for his own abode ;
On the rock of ages founded,

What can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded,
Thou may'st smile at all thy foes.

2 Saviour, if of Zion's city
I, through grace, a member am,
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in thy name;
Fading is the worldling's pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show!
Solid joys and lasting treasure,
None but Zion's children know.

1 IF human kindness meets return,
And owns the grateful tie;
If tender thoughts within us burn,
To feel a friend is nigh;

2 Oh shall not warmer accents tell
The gratitude we owe

To him who died our fears to quell,
Our more than orphan's woe?
