Ifai. v. 30. And if one look unto the Land, behold Darkness AND Sorrow, (or DISTRESS,) and the Light is darkened in the Heavens thereof, (or, WHEN IT IS LIGHT IT SHALL BE DARK IN THE DESTRUCTION THEREOF.)

Ifai. xiii. 10. For the Stars of Heaven, and the Conftellations thereof shall not give their Light, and the Sun fhall be darkned in his going forth, and the Moon fhall not cause ber Light to fhine.

Ch. xxiv. 23. Then the Moon fhall be confounded, and the Sun ashamed, when the Lord of Hofts fhall reign in Mount Zion, and Ferufalem, and before his Antients, gloriously (or, THERE SHALL BE GLORY BE FORE HIS ANTIENTS.)

Ch. xxxiv. 4. And all the Hoft of Hea ven fhall be diffolved, and the Heavens Shall be rolled together as a Scroll, and all their Hoft fall fall down, as the Leaf falleth down from the Vine, and as a falling FIG from the Fig-tree.

Oye Heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very defolate, faith the Lord.

Ch. li. 53. Though Babylon fhould mount up to Heaven, and though he should fortify the Height of her Strength, YET from me Shall Spoilers come unto her, faith the Lord.

Ezek. xxxii. 7. And when I fhall put thee (Egypt) out, (or EXTINGUISH) I will cover the Heavens, and make the Stars thereof dark, &c.

Joel ii. 30. I will fhew Wonders in the Heaven, and in the Earth, Blood, and Fire, and Pillars of Smoke. Ver. 31. The Sun fhall be turned into Darkness, and the Moon into Blood, before the great and terrible Day of the Lord come. Ibid. Acts ii. 20.

Ch. iii. 15. The Sun and Moon fhall be darkened, and the Stars fhall withdraw their fhining.

Matt. xxiv. 29. Immediately after the Tribulation of thofe Days fhall the Sun be darkened, and the Moon fhall not give her Light, and the Stars fhall fall from Heaven, and the Powers of the Heavens fhall be fhaken.

In like manner, after these Destructions, or the Coming of Chrift in the last Difpenfation, where the Point fhall be yielded, and the Heavens clear of this Blot, and ferving God and Men. Ifai.

Ifai. ii. 2. It shall come to pass in the laft Days, THAT the Mountain of the Lord's Houfe fhall be established in the Top of the Mountains, and shall be exalted above the Hills, and all Nations fhall flow unto it.Ver. 12. For the Day of the Lord of Hofts SHALL BE upon. Ver. 14. All the high Mountains, and upon all the Hills THAT ARE lifted up; Ver. 15. And upon every high Tower; and every fenced Wall; Ver. 16. And upon all the Ships of Tarshish, and · upon all pleafant Pictures (PICTURES OF DELIGHT.)

Ifai. iv. 5. And the Lord will create upon every Dwelling-place of Mount Zion, and upon her Affemblies; a Cloud and Smoke by Day, and the fhining of a flaming Fire by Night; for upon (or ABOVE) all the Glory SHALL BE a Defence (or COVERING.)

Ch. xxx. 22. Ye fhall defile alfo the Covering of thy graven Images of Silver, and the Ornaments of thy molten Images of Gold, thou fhalt caft them away as a menftruous Cloth; thou fhalt fay unto it, Get thee hence.-Ver. 26. Moreover, the Light of the Moon fhall be as the Light of the Sun, and the Light of the Sun fhall be fevenfold, in the Day that the Lord bindeth up the Breach of his

Nahum i. 15. Behold upon the Mountains, the Feet of him that bringeth good Tidings, that publisheth Peace; O Judah, keep the folemn Feafts, perform thy Vows; for the Wicked (Heb. BELIAL) shall no more pass through thee, he is utterly cut off.

I fhall infert a few Texts, directed exprefly against this Vice, or the Imaginers, which fhew the State of this Affair, when the Gospel began to take Place.

Col. ii. 8. Beware left any Man fpoil you through Philofophy, and vain Deceit, after the Tradition of Men, after the Rudiments (ELEMENTS) of the World, and not after Chrift.

2 Cor. vi. 15. And what Concord hath Chrift with Belial; or what Part hath be that believeth, with an Infidel. Ver. 17. Wherefore, come out from among them, and be ye Separate, faith the Lord, and touch not the unclean Thing, and I will receive you.

Eph. ii. 1. And you HATH HE QUICKENED, who were dead in Trefpaffes and Sins, wherein in Time past ye walked, according to the Course of this World, according to the Prince of the Power of the Air, the

Gal. iv. 3. Even fo we, when we were Children, were in Bondage unto the Elements (RUDIMENTS) of the World.-Ver. 8. Howbeit, then when ye knew not God, ye did Service unto them which by Nature are no Gods. Ver. 9. But now, after ye have known God, or rather, are known of God, how turn yeagain (or BACK) to the weak and beggarly Elements, (RUDIMENTS,) whereunto ye defire again to be in Bondage? Ver. 10. Ye obferve Days, and Months, and Times, and Years. Ver.11. I am afraid of you, left I have bestowed upon you Labour in vain.

Eph. vi. 12. For we wrestle not against Flesh and Blood, but against Principalities, againft Powers, against the Rulers of the Darkness of this World, against fpiritual Wickedness (or WICKED SPIRITS) in high (or HEAVENLY) Places.

2 Cor. x. 5. Cafting down Imaginations (or REASONINGS,) and every high Thing that exalteth itself against the Knowledge of God.

Col. ii. 15. And having fpoiled Principalities and Powers, be made a Shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it, (or In HIMSELF.) Ver. 20. Wherefore, if ye be dead with Chrift, from the Rudiments (ELE
