ly I come quickly. Amen. Even fo come Lord Jefus.' The grace of our Lord Jefus Chrift be with you all, Amen,' Rev. xxii. 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21. The authority of this book is here again ratified from the perfon of him who is the author of it, that is, Jefus Chrift, who is, here called, The root and generation of David:' both because he is defcended of the houfe of David according to the flesh: and also because the eternal kingdom which all the prophets did foretel, fhould spring out of the house of David, was indeed and in truth established in Chrift, who is our true David, and our righteous branch, and as it is here faid the bright morning Star,' which hath most gloriously rifen upon the world, to dispel all darkness, and to bring in the great and everlasting light. Moreover, here is great proteftation made. in the 18th and 19th verfes, of great plagues to be inflicted upon all fuch as fhall add any thing unto this book, or take away any thing from it,' Which also maketh greatly for the confirmation of the authority of this book. For that, to the which nothing may be added, and from the which nothing may be taken away, muft needs be abfolute and perfect: but this book is fuch a one: therefore this book is abfolute and perfect, being a part of God's everlafting truth. Laft of all, here is fet down the fervent defire of the bride after the Bridegroom; for the being inflamed with the Spirit, defireth him to come and make up the match' betwixt them, that he may be joined to him in marriage, celebrate the folemnization, and live together with him in the eternal triumph: which is the fense of these words, The Spirit and the bride, fay, Come. And let him that heareth, fay, • Come. For it is proper and peculiar only to the bride to hear, wait, and long for the coming of Christ. And let him that is athirft, come.' That is, all fuch as thirst after righteoufnefs, may truly fay, Come, fweet Jefus. For they are allowed freely to drink of the water of life. The plain meaning of all this is, that the church being directed by the Holy Ghoft, moft vehemently prayeth and longeth for the coming of Chrift, that fhe may have her topful happinefs, and full fruition of all thofe fuper-excellent things which are provided and purchased for her through him.
