DIOCESE OF CLONFERT.

We, the undersigned Parish Priests and Clergymen of the Diocese of Clonfert, convened on Monday the 23d instant at the request of our Venerable and much esteemed Prelate, the Right Rev. Dr. Costello, to take into consideration the escript signed QUARANTOTTI have adopted the following Resolutions:

Resolved, That we consider the aforesaid Rescript as dangerous in its tendency to the purity and discipline of the Catholic Religion of Ireland.

Resolved, That such arrangements can be made by Domestic Nomination, vested either in Chapter or the Parish Priests, as may lead to a total Emancipation of the Catholics of Ireland; inasmuch, as it precludes the so nuch apprehended Foreign influence, whilst it secures the dearest interests of our Religion from Individual Partiality.

DEANERY OF LOUGHREA.

At a Meeting of the Parish Priests and Clergymen the Deanery of Loughrea, in the Diocese of Clonfert, held in the Parish Chapel, the following Resolutions have been unanimously adopted:

1st. After minutely considering the Rescript which has lately appeared signed Qarantotti, we are of opinion, that it should not be received nor adopted by the Catholic Church in Ireland, fully convinced that it would, not only

at present, be dangerous in its consequences, but also ultimately tend to the subversion of our holy Religion, by introducing a system of intrigue, faction and corruption among the Ministers of that Church, hitherto distinguished by the unity of her Faith and the strictness of her Discipline.

2dly. Loyal from principle, and firmly attached to the King and Constitution, we are willing to give the Government of our Country every just and reasonable proof of our allegiance; and, as we consider the plan of Domestic Nomination fully competent to answer every objection either RELIGIOUS OR POLITICAL, we earnestly request that our highly respected and Revered Prelate, in conjunction with the other Prelates do without delay, remonstrate with his Holiness on this importaut subject.

DIOCESE OF LIMERICK.

At a Mecting of the Parish Priests of the Diocese of Limerick Held at St. Micheal's Chapel, Limerick, on Saturday, the 28th of May, 1814, the following Resolutions were unanimously adopted;

Resolved, That as the spiritual guardians of our respective flocks, we feel it our duty to caution them against the reception of any opinions, which may be eventually injurious to their faith and morals.

Resolved, That having maturely considered the late Rescript from Rome, signed J. B. Quarantotti,' and för·warded by the Right Rev. Dr. Poynter, Apostolic Vicar of London, to the Catholic Bishops and Vicars Capitular of Ireland, we are firmly of opinion, that the said Rescript should not be obeyed by the Catholic Church of Ireland, because we consider its principles dangerous to our holy Religion, and contrary not only to the decision of the Irish Bishops, but also to the express sentiments of the Saered College itself, promulgated in the year 1805.

Resolved, That we are determined to hold no communication whatever on this unauthorised Document, with Monsignor Quarantotti or Dr. Poynter, solemnly protesting against any lay interference with the government of our Church or appointment of her Hierarchy, and against all innovation tending, directly or indirectly to disturb her unity and integrity, or infringing, in the smallest degree, on the spiritual Supremacy of our revered Chief Pastor Pius VII the venerable Head of our Church, the succesBor of St. Peter, and the Vicegerent of Christ.

Resolved, That we consider ourselves particularly called on, to defend and preserve the sacred deposit of unity of Faith, and the Spiritual Supremacy of our Chief Pastor, because our brave ancestors. while defending their civil rights within the walls of Limerick, obtained the guarrantee of a solemn treaty for the free and full exercise of the ancient Religion of Ireland.

Charles Touhy, Vicar Capitular of the Diocese of
Limerick, President.

These Resolutions are signed by 36 Parish Priests.

DIOCESE Of Derry.

Resolved, That we do not feel ourselves bound to subscribe to such concessions, nor to obey the implied mandate of that Leiter; because to us it seems to be unauthorised by the Pope; and even were his Holiness to give it

der his sign manual, we should not consider ourselves bound to obey it, as it would be an infringement on our religious discipline.

Resolved therefore, That we most solemnly and uuequivocally protest against the concessions made in the said Letter.

Resolved, That we request our Bishop, the Right Rev.
Doctor O'Donnell, to lay these our Resolutions before the
Roman Catholic Prelates, to be assembled in Dublin, en
the 25th instant, most earnestly praying them to take into
their most serious consideration the contents of that Letter,
as in our mind tending to annihilate the ancient Roman
Catholic Hierarchy of Ireland.
