IV. There be only Two Sacraments ordained by Chrift our Lord in the Gospel, that is to fay, Baptifm and the Supper of the Lord: Neither of which may be difpenfed by any, but by à Minister of the Word lawfully ordained.

Of Baptifm.

APTISM is a Sacrament of the New Teftament, ordained by Jefus Chrift, not only for the folemn Admiffion of the Party baptized into the vifible Church; but alfo to be unto him a Sign and Seal of the Covenant of Grace, of his

II. The outward Element to be ufed in this Sacrament is Water, wherewith the Party is to be baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghoft, by a Minilter of the Gofpel lawfully called thereunto.

III. Dipping of the Perfon into the Water is not

cumcised: that righteousness might be imputed unto them alfo. With Col. 2. TT. In whom alfo ye are cir cumcifed with the circumcifion made without hands, in putting off the body of the fins of the fief, by the circumcifion of Chrift: v. 1z. Buried with him in baptifm, where in alfo ye are rifen with him,through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raifed him from the dead.

IV. Not only those that do actually profess Faith in and Obedience unto Chrift', but also the Infants of one or both believing Parents, are to be baptized". V. Alwith faithful Abraham, v. 14. That the bleffing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles, through Jefus Chrift; that we might receive the promife of the Spirit through faith. And Col. 2. 11. VI. The Efficacy of Baptifm is not tied to that Moment of Time wherein it is adminiftred ; yet notwithstanding by the right Use of this Ordinance, the Grace promifed is promifed is not only offered, but really exhibited and conferred by the Holy Ghoft, to fuch (whether of Age or Infants) as that Grace belong,
