III. Elect Infants dying in Infancy, are regenerated and faved by Chrift through the Spirit", who work

to his mercy, he faved us by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the holy Ghoft. Eph. 2.4. But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, vs. Even when we were dead in fins, hath quickned us together with Chrift, (by grace ye are faved.) v. 8. For by grace are ye faved, through faith; and that not of your felves: it is the gift of God: v. 9. Not of works, left any man should boaft. Rom. 9. 11. For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to ele&tion might ftand, not of works, but of him that calleth.

I Cor. 2. 14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishnefs unto him: neither can he know them, because they are fpiritually difcerned. Rom. 8. 7. IV. Others not elected, although they may be called by the Miniftry of the Word, and may have fome common Operations of the Spirit ; yet they never truly come unto Chrift, and therefore cannot be faved: much lefs can Men not profeffing the Christian Religion, be faved in any other way whatfoever, be they never fo diligent to frame their Lives according to the Light of Nature, and the Law of that Religion they do profess ; and to affert John 3.8. The wind bloweth fecution arifeth because ofthe word, where it lifteth, and thou heareft the found thereof, but canft not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: fo is every one that is born of the Spirit.

• 1 John 5. 12. He that hath the Son, hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life. Alts 4. 12. Neither, is there falvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be faved.

Of Juftification.

II. Faith

b Rom. 4. 5. But to him that he faved us by the washing of reworketh not, but believeth on him generation, and renewing of the v.7. That being juftified by his grace, we fhould be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Eph. 1. 7. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the foregiveness of fins according to the riches of his grace. Fer. 23.6. In his days Judah fhall be faved, and Ifrael fhall dwell fafely, and this is his name whereby he fhall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. I Cor. 1.30. But of him are ye in Chrift Jefus, who of God is made unto us wifdom, and righteousness, and fanctification, and redemption, v. 31. That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. Rom. 5. 17. For if by one mans offence,death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteoufhefs, fhall reign in life by one, Jefus Chrift. v. 18. Therefore as by the offence of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation: even so by the righteoufnefs of one, the free gift came upon all men unto juftification of life. v. 19. For as by one mans disobedience many were made finners: fo by the obedience of one, shall many be made righteous.

Being juftified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jefus Chrift. v. 25. Whom God hath fet forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteoufnefs for the remiffion of fins that are past, through the forbearance of God; v. 27. Where is boafting then? It is excluded. By what law of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. v. 28. Therefore we conclude, that a man is juftified by faith, without the deeds of the law. Tit. 3. 5. Not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to his mercy

Faith thus receiving and refting on Chrift and his Righteousness, is the alone Inftrument of Juftification; yet is it not alone in the Perfon juftified, but is ever accompanied with all other faving Graces, and is no dead Faith, but worketh by Love". III. Chrift by his Obedience and Death, did fully discharge the Debt of all those that are thus juftified, and did make a proper, real, and full Satisfaction to his Father's Juftice in their behalf. Yet

the law, but by the faith of Jefus Chrift, even we have believed in Jefus Chrift, that we might be justified by the faith of Chrift, and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law fhall no flesh be juftified. Phil. 3.9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Chrift, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Acts 13,38. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren,that through this man is preached unto you the forgivenefs offins; v. 39. And by him all that believe are juftified from all things, from the which ye could not be justified by the law of Mofes. Eph. 2.7. That in the ages to come he might fhew the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness towards us, through Chrift Jefus. v. 8. For by grace are ye faved through faith; and that not of your felves it is the gift of God.

II. John 1. 12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the fons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Rom. 3. 28. Therefore we conclude, that a man is juftified by faith, without the deeds of the law. Rom. 5.1. Therefore being juftified

by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jefus Chrift.

• James 2. 17. Even fo faith, if it hath not works, is dead being alone. v. 22. Seeft thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? v. 26. For as the body without the spirit is dead, fo faith without works is dead alfo. Gal. 5. 6. Forin Jefus Chrift, neither circumcifion availeth any thing, nor uncircumcifion; but faith which worketh by love.

III. f Rom. 5. 8. But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet finners, Chrift died for us. v. 9. Much more then being now juftified by his blood, we fhall be faved from wrath through him. v. 10. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son: much more, being reconciled, we shall be faved by his life. V. 19. For as by one mans difobedience many were made finners: fo by the obedience of one, shall many be made righteous. 1 Tim. 2. 5. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Chrift Jefus; v. 6. Who gave himself a ranfom for all, to be teftified in due time, Heb.10.10. By
