PSALM 5. C. M.

Seeking God in the sanctuary.

1 LORD, hear the voice of my complaint,
Accept my secret prayer:

To Thee alone, my King, my God,
Will I for help repair.

2 Thou in the morn my voice shalt hear,
And with the dawning day
To Thee devoutly I'll look up,
To Thee devoutly pray.

3 And when thy boundless grace shall me To thy lov'd courts restore,

On Thee I'll fix my longing eyes,
And humbly Thee adore.

4 To righteous men the righteous Lord
His blessing will extend;

And with his favor, all his saints
As with a shield defend.

PSALM 6. C. M.

Sinners deprecating the wrath of God.

1 IN tender mercy, not in wrath,
Rebuke us, gracious God;
Lest, if thy whole displeasure rise,
We sink beneath thy rod.

2 Touched by thy Spirit's quickening power, Our load of guilt we feel;

The wounds thy Spirit has unclosed,
Oh! let that Spirit heal.

3 Oppress'd with Satan's galling yoke,
Must we for ever mourn?

And wilt Thou not at length, O God,
In pitying love return?

4 Why should our souls distrust thy grace,
Or yield to dread despair?
Thou wilt fulfil thy promised word,
And grant us all our prayer.

PSALM 7. L. M.

God the righteous Judge of all.

1 THE Lord is Judge; before his throne
All nations shall his justice own:
Oh! may my soul be found sincere,
And stand approved with courage there.
2 The Lord, in righteousness arrayed,
Surveys the world his hands have made;
Pierces the heart, and tries the reins,
And judgment from on high ordains.
3 My God! my shield! around me place
The shelter of the Saviour's grace:
Then when thine arm the just shall save,
My soul shall triumph o'er the grave.

4 Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise Him all creatures here below, Praise Him above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

PSALM 8. C. M.

The wonders of Creation and Redemption.

10 THOU to whom all creatures bow
Within this earthly frame,

Through all the world how great art Thou,
How glorious is thy name!

2 In heaven thy wondrous acts are sung,
Nor fully reckoned there;
And yet thou mak'st the infant tongue
Thy boundless praise declare.

3 Lord! what is man that Thou should'st deign,

To bear him in thy mind?

Or condescend to visit him,on

In human flesh enshrin'd. LAY 4 O Thou to whom all creatures bow Within this earthly frame,

Through all the world how great art Th
How glorious is thy name!
