ADDRESS.

To those persons who may consider the following pages an intrusion on the public, when there are so many excellent works in circulation of a similar cast and tendency, and that it is encroaching upon, or endeavouring to usurp, a province which does not belong to any private individual, it will be sufficient to state, that several families having expressed a wish that they could find some short discourses suitable for their evening reading which were not mere moral essays, led to the publication of these, though they were not written with a view of publishing

them; each subject arising from incidental circumstances powerfully impressing the writer's mind. Candour, also, requires it to be added, that other reasons might be given for their being published, were they of sufficient importance to interest any but those who feel anxious for the success of this work.

Single copies of the "Discourse on the Restoration of the Jews" have been printed, to be sent to the "Sale of Ladies' Work for promoting Christianity amongst the Jews."
