People.

Thy will be done on earth as it is in

heaven.

Minifter.

Almighty God, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, we beseech thee graciously to fupply our constantly returning wants. May we not be too anxious for the morrow, nor fix our hearts upon the goods of this world. We gratefully own our dependance upon thee, and entreat only that portion of the bleffings of the present life, for ourselves and others, which thy wisdom and goodness shall fee fit to bestow.

People.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

Minifter.

Holy Father, we acknowledge that we do not merit any of thy favours; for with fhame and remorse we must confess, that we have already too much neglected and abufed

M

abused thy goodness. In many things have we all offended. In thy fight, O Lord, no man living is juftified. We lament our past guilt and ingratitude; we lament every instance in which we have tranfgreffed thy moft righteous and holy laws, in thought, in word, or in deed. And we fincerely defire and refolve, by divine affiftance, to forfake every evil way. With penitent and contrite hearts, we earneftly implore thy pardon of our many and aggravated fins. And we would prefent this requeft, with that forgiving temper towards those that have offended us, which thou requirest of all who would obtain thy mercy.

People.

Forgive us our trefpaffes, as we forgive thofe who trefpafs against us.

Minifler.

Suffer us not, O God, to be tempted beyond what we are able to refift, but with the temptation make a way for our escape.

May

May we not indulge in thofe thoughts, defires, or evil communications which are not according to godlinefs. Deliver us,

merciful Father, we beseech thee, from vanity and selfishness, from malice and injuftice, from impiety and prophanenefs, and from every thing that is contrary to thy holy will.

People.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Minifter.

We humbly offer up these our adorations and requests unto thee, O God, for thou alone art poffeffed of those perfections that demand our religious confidence and homage. While our being endures, therefore, we would celebrate thy praise. And let every creature bless thy holy name, througout all ages.

People.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, for ever.

M 2

Amen.

Concluding

Concluding Prayer.

THOU that hearest prayer, deign, we entreat thee, to accept these our praises and fupplications. Pardon the imperfections which attend our best services.

Af

fift us in the duties which further lie before us. Enlighten our minds with thy holy spirit, that we may receive the truth in the love of it, be guided by it in our whole lives, and finally attain to eternal falvation, through thine infinite mercy in Jefus Christ our Lord. Amen.

MORNING

NINTH SERVICE.

¶ At the beginning of Morning Prayer the Minifter. fhall read one or more of these Sentences of Scripture that follow; after which he shall read the Exhortation.

GIVE

unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Pfal. xxix. 6.

O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds amongst the people. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and his ftrength; feek his face for evermore. Pf. cv. 1,3,4.

Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high; and yet humbleth M 3 himself
