himself to behold the things which are in heaven and on earth Pfal. cxiii. 5.

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forfake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, unto our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Ifa. lv. 6, 7.

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws which he hath fet before us. Dan. ix. 9, 10.

The Exhortation.

DEARLY beloved brethren, the Scripture exhorteth us in fundry places to acknowledge and confefs our manifold fins and wickednefs before the face of Almighty God our heavenly Father, with an humble,

lowly,

lowly, penitent, and obedient heart; to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the fame by his infinite goodness and mercy. And as we ought in our private prayers humbly to acknowledge our fins before God, fo likewife ought we to do when we affemble and meet together to render thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands; to fet forth his moft worthy praise; to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are requifite and neceffary as well for the body as the -foul. Wherefore I beseech you, as many as are here prefent, to accompany me with an humble heart unto the throne of heavenly grace.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, we have erred and ftrayed from thy ways

like loft fheep. We have followed too much the devices and defires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone thofe things which we ought to have done, and we have done thofe things which we ought not to have done. But do thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare thou them, O God, who confefs their faults. Reftore thou them who are penitent, according to thy promises declared unto mankind by Christ Jefus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, that we may hereafter lead a fober, righteous, and godly life, to the glory of thy holy name. Amen.

Be

Be ye fure that the Lord he is God: it is he who hath made us, and not we ourfelves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praife; be thankful unto him, and speak good of his name.

For the Lord is gracious; his mercy is everlafting; and his truth endureth from generation to generation.
