may shew forth our thankfulness to thee for all thy mercies, by a fincere obedience to thy holy laws, which thou hast taught us by Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer to be used in time of War.
O ALMIGHTY God, who art the fupreme Governor of all things, to whom it justly belongeth to punish sinful nations, and to be merciful to those who repent ; we humbly beseech thee, in all time of our danger, to be the defender of our country: give us not up into the hands of our enemies; save us from the edge of the sword, and preserve our land from the defolations of war; confirm and continue to us the enjoyment of our civil and religious liberties, and may we yet live secure under that government which thy providence hath set over us. We do with all humility acknowledge ourselves unworthy of these
peculiar blessings; have mercy upon us, O God, have mercy upon us; send forth a fpirit of reformation amongst us, avert the evils we have deserved, continue thy favour and protection to us, save and deliver us, O our God, for in thee do we put our trust: restore tranquility and peace to contending nations, unite the hearts of mankind in the bonds of humanity and love, and may the happy time come, when the calamities of war shall cease for ever, and peace and righteousness universally prevail. And this we humbly beg, for thy mercy's sake, declared unto mankind by Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer for a sick Person.
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, Maker of mankind, who doft correct those whom thou dost love, and chastise every one whom thou dost receive; we beseech thee in behalf of thy servant labouring
under under bodily indisposition (for whom our prayers are defircd). Grant, O Lord, that be may take this thy visitation patiently; give him comfort and sure confidence in thee, support him under all the trials of this present fickness, that he may be fitted for whatever in thy wise and righteous providence thou hast appointed for him ; fanctify, we beseech thee, this thy fatherly visitation to him, that if it be thy good pleasure to restore him to his former health, he may lead the residue of his life here in thy fear, and to thy glory; and whenever thou shalt see fit to remove him hence, he may be prepared to dwell with thee in life everlasting, according to thy gracious promises by Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O FATHER of mercies, and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need, we flee unto thee for succour in behalf of thy.
fervant lying under thy hand in great weakness of body; look graciously upon bin, O Lord, and the more the outward frame decayeth, strengthen bim, we beseech thee, so much the more continually with thy grace and holy fpirit; give bim unfeigned repentance for all the errors of bis life paft, and a firm reliance on thy great mercies in Jesus Christ our Lord, that his fins may be done away by thy mercy, and bis pardon fealed in heaven, before be go hence, and be no more feen. We know, O Lord, that there is no work impossible with thee, and that if thou wilt, thou canst even yet raise him up, and grant him a longer continuance amongst us. And teach us in this and other like instances of mor,
tality, to see how frail and uncertain our own condition is, and so to number our days, that we may seriously apply our hearts to that holy and heavenly wisdom whilst we live here, which may in the end bring us to life everlasting, according to thy gracious promises by Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer for a fick Child.
ALMIGHTY and merciful God, the great Father and Preserver of life, in a faithful dependance on thy goodness, wifdom and power, we now lift up our hearts unto thee, humbly praying, if it seemeth good in thy sight, that thou wilt spare the life of this child, for whom our prayers are desired, and prolong it to years of understanding and usefulness. Under thy direction and blessing, may all those means be pursued, which are most proper to recover bis health, and to restore him to his family
