thily of this bread, the memorial of his body; difpofe us to feel in the most lively manner the impreffions of that innocence and love, which led him like a lamb to the flaughter, in fulfilling the work of our redemption; and graciously enable us at all times to express our regard to his memory, by keeping his commandments.

Like

him, help us to overcome the world; to preserve, under every temptation, the integrity of our hearts, and the purity of our manners; to follow the things which make for peace; and to fubmit with refignation and chearfulness to thy fovereign will in all things. We humbly ask these things as the difciples of thy Son; fulfil our defires, O thou who livest and reignest for ever. Amen.

Then the Minifter may say,

Jefus, when he had bleffed God, brake the bread.

While the Minifter is breaking the Bread, he may read the following Sentences:

God fent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be faved. John iii. 17. We know the grace of our Lord Jefus Chrift; that though he was rich, yet for our fakes he became poor, that we through his poverty might be made rich.

viii. 9.

2 Cor.

He was defpifed and rejected of men; a man of forrows, and acquainted with grief. He was oppreffed, he was afflicted; he was led as a lamb to the flaughter, and as a fheep in the hands of the thearers is dumb, fo he opened not his mouth. I. liii. 3. 7.

He gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus ii. 14.

The Minifter may then fay,

Jefus took bread, and bleffed God; brake it, and gave it to his difciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body which is given this do in remembrance of me.

Then the Minister, first taking of the Bread himfelf, fhall give it to the People, faying,

This bread is the memorial of the body of Chrift, who was put to death upon the crofs; take and eat of it in remembrance of him.

When the Congregation has received the Bread, the Minifter may pour out the Wine, faying,

The Lord Jefus, when they had fupped, took the cup, and gave thanks: let us unite in offering up our fincere and humble thanksgivings to God.

WE adore thy goodness, Father of mer

cies, and God of all grace, that thou haft promifed forgiveness upon fincere repentance and reformation. We praise thee, that our holy religion is fo well adapted to regulate our affections, to direct our worship, to extend our hopes, and that all its doctrines are confirmed unto us by the death of Jefus; grant, O Lord, we befeech thee, that while we partake of this cup, the memorial of his blood, we may recollect the generous inftances of his benevolence, with becoming thankfulness; fix in our minds a growing deteftation of that evil, from which he came to deliver us; and make it our continual endeavour to improve in those excellent difpofitions he has recommended to us; that when he shall come again to judge the world in righteoufnefs, we may be numbered amongst thy good and faithful fervants, and enter into the joy of our Lord;

in his name, with all humility and gratitude, we prefent thefe our prayers and thanks to thee, the God and Father of all; to whom be glory in the churches, by Jefus Chrift, throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

The Minifter may then fay,

The Lord Jefus, when they had fupped, took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to his difciples, faying, Drink ye all of it, for this is my blood of the New Testament, which is fhed for many for the remiffion of fins.

¶ Then the Minifter, firft drinking of the Cup himfelf, fhall deliver it to the People, faying,

This wine is the memorial of the blood of Chrift, who was put to death upon the crofs; take and drink of it in remembrance of him.
