content. If thou crown us with profperity, enable us to be wife and faithful ftewards of the bounties of thy providence; and if affliction be our lot, ftill may we be confirmed in the belief of thy goodness, by reflecting, that thou doft mercifully withhold from us many evils which our fins deferve, and that from thee we still receive many unmerited bleffings. Sanctify to us, O God, all thy difpenfations, and give us grace to improve them to the best of purposes. Amen.

MAY the frequent instances of mortality which pafs before our eyes, effectually impress upon our minds a sense of our own frailty, and of the uncertainty of our stay in this world; and frequently reflecting upon the awful folemnities of a future judgment, and the importance of eternity, upon the brink of which we are ftanding; may we be diligent and serious in our preparation for them. Amidft the cares and pursuits

pursuits of this tranfitory life, may we always maintain a temper of mind fuited to our probationary ftate, and to an endless existence, beyond the grave. Help us to cultivate every pious difpofition towards thee, our God, and every benevolent affection and principle towards our fellow creatures. May we be diligent and watchful in guarding againft temptation, and zealous and active in the performance of our duty. Thus may we be found prepared for our last summons, and be then able to give up our account with joy. And in the great decifive day, when a feparation shall be made between the righteous and the wicked, may we ftand approved before our Judge, and be found duly qualified for the divine employment and the exalted pleafures of the heavenly ftate, all which we humbly afk in the name of our Lord Jefus Chrift. Amen.

Reform the diforders arifing from the evil paffions of men, and may all nations experience the permanent bleffings of peace and good government.

beseech thee, from those national judgments and calamities which our fins have deferved, and be merciful unto us, and teach us all to live as becometh the gospel of Christ. Continue to us the fruits of the earth in their season, so that the poor may be satisfied with bread, and may we all receive the bleffings of thy providence with grateful hearts, and use them with temperance, moderation, and charity.

We recommend to the care of thy providence thy fervant George our King, beseeching thee to affist him in the discharge of the important duties to which he is called. May he be bleffed of thee in his government, in his perfon, and in his family; and after a life of extensive usefulnefs here, do thou, O Lord, receive him into thine heavenly kingdom.

Blefs and direct, we entreat thee, all those who are set in authority over us, and

may they rule in thy fear, as knowing they must give an account.

May the ministers of thy gofpel prove the bleffed inftruments in thy hands of promoting the knowledge and practice of Christianity, and may they be examples to their people in faith and purity.

Hear our prayers for all who are afflicted, whether in mind, body, or estate, and do thou comfort and relieve them according to their feveral neceffities. May the best inftructions be conveyed to their minds by the vifitations of thy providence, that fo they may be fitted for unmixed happiness in a future ftate.

Accept, we pray thee, O God, our prayers for ourselves and others, which we offer up in the name, and as the difciples of Jefus Chrift our Lord and Saviour, through whom we have access unto thee, and in whose words we farther call upon thee:
