LORD, our heavenly Father! mercifully hear the prayers, and accept the praises we have now offered up to thy divine Majefty; increase in us the fpirit of piety and devotion; and grant, that by the integrity of our hearts, and the purity of our lives, we may promote thy honour, extend the influence of thy religion, and advance the glory of thy kingdom; difpofe us to attend, with becoming seriousness, to the inftructions of thy word; may it fink deep into our hearts; like good feed fown in good ground, grant that it may bring forth the fruits of righteousness, and thus prepare us for the ex

alted fervices of the heavenly world, all which we most humbly ask in the name of thy fon Jefus Chrift, in whose words we further addrefs thee:

OUR Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven: Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trefpaffes, as we forgive them who trespass against us: and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory for ever and ever. SECOND SERVICE.

¶ Let the Minifter introduce the Service by reading the following Sentences; the Congregation rising

up.

Minifter.

HEAR all ye people; give ear all ye in

habitants of the world; for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let the heaven and the earth praise him; the sea and every thing that moveth therein. Rejoice in the Lord, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Trust in the Lord at all times, ye people, pour out your hearts before him; for he taketh pleasure in those who fear him, and in those who hope in his mercy. Offer unto

God the facrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in him; for in his prefence is fulness of joy, and at his right hand are pleasures forevermore.

People.

The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; in him will we put our trust.

The Introductory Prayer; the People kneeling. EVER bleffed and most glorious Lord our God! Thou art the object of fupreme veneration: On thee do all the families of the earth continually depend. We would present ourselves before thee with reverence and humility: We would offer unto thee our facrifices of praise and thanksgiving, with joy and gratitude. By celebrating thy perfections, may we be excited to an ardent love and imitation of thee, our heavenly Father: and may the remembrance of thy great goodness to us, and to all mankind, incline us to love and ferve

one another as brethren. May we confef our fins with unfeigned forrow and with fteady purposes of amendment. May we pray unto thee, as the bountiful dispenser of all good and may our interceffions be accompanied with fervent charity to all men. Dispose us to keep a watchful guard over ourselves, at all times, and more ef pecially whilft we are employed in the folemn and important duties of thy house. May no vain thoughts diftract our minds; no unworthy objects withdraw our affections; but may our whole hearts be engaged in thy worship: and may the influence of our religious fervices be abundantly fhewn forth in lives conformable to the gospel of Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.
