and anger, and clamour, and evil-fpeaking may be put away from us, with all malice; and that we may be kind one to another, and tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Chrift's fake, we hope, hath forgiven us .. O make us merciful as our Father who is in heaven is merciful P, who hath promifed that with the merciful he will fhow himfelf merciful q.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

And, Lord, forafmuch as there is in us a bent to backflide from thee, fo that when our fins are forgiven, we are ready to return again to folly £, we pray that thou wilt not only forgive us our debts, but take care of us, that we may not offend any more . Lord, lead us not into temptation. We know that no man can fay when he is tempted, that he is tempted of God, for God tempteth not any man ; but we know that God is able to make all grace abound towards us, and to keep us from falling, and prefent us faultless *. We therefore pray that thou wilt never give us up to our own heart's luft, to walk in our own counfels, but reftrain Satan, that roaring lion that goes about feeking whom he may devour; and grant that we may not be ignorant of his devices. Olet not Satan have us to fift us as wheat ; or however, let not our faith fail . Let not the meffengers of Satan be permitted to buffet us ; but if they be, let thy grace be fufficient for us, that where we are weak, there we may be strong, and may be more than conquerors through him that loved us d. And, the God of peace tread Satan under our feet, and do it fhortly.

And fince we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, and the rulers of the darkness of this world, let us be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might f.

Lord, grant that we may never enter into tempta tion, but having prayed may fet a watch h, and let thy wife and good providence fo order all our affairs, and all events that are concerning us, that no temptation may take us, but fuch as is common to men, and that we may never be tempted above what we are able to difcern, refift, and overcome through the grace of Godi. Lord, do not lay any ftumbling-block before us, that we fhould fall upon them and perifh'. Let nothing be an occafion of falling to us, but give us that great peace which they have that love thy law, whom nothing shall offend m.

And lead us, we pray thee, into all truth"; lead us in thy truth, and teach us, for thou art the God of our falvation o. Show us thy ways, O God, and teach us thy paths, the paths of righteoufnefs; O lead us in thofe paths for thy name's fake, that fo we may be led befide the ftill waters P.

And deliver us, we pray thee, from the evil one ¶ ; keep us that the wicked one touch us not, that he fow not his tares in the field of our hearts, that we be not enfnared by his wiles, or wounded by his fiery darts, let the word of God abide in us, that we may be ftrong, and may overcome the wicked one '.

Deliver us from every evil thing, we pray, that we may do no evil : O deliver us from every evil work ", fave us from our fins *, redeem us from all iniquity,

Father in heaven, fupply our wants, pardon our fine, and preferve us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, and thou art Lord over all, who art rich to all that call upon thee: None can forgive fins but thou only ", let thy power be great in pardoning our fins: And fince it is the glory of God to parden fin, and to help the helpless y, help us, O God of our falvation; for the glory of thy name deliver us, and purge away our fins, for thy name's fake 2.

We desire in all our prayers to praise thee, for thou art great, and greatly to be praifed. We praise thy kingdom, for it is an everlasting kingdom, and endures throughout all generations, and the fceptre of thy kingdom is a right fceptree: Thou loveft righteoufnefs, and hateft wickedness: To thee belongeth mercy, and thou rendereft to every man according to his works a. We praise thy power, for thou haft a mighty arm, ftrong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand, and yet judgment and juftice are the habitation of thy throne, mercy and truth fhall go before thy face We praise thy glory, for the glory of the Lord fhall endure for ever. Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Ghoft: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever fhall be f. O let God be praised in his fanctuary, and praised in the firmament of his power; let him be praised for his mighty acts, and praifed according to his excellent greatness. Let every thing that hath breath praife the Lords. Hallelujah.

And forafmuch as we know that he heareth us, and whatsoever we afk, according to his will, in faith, we have the petitions that we desired of him 1, we will triumph in his praifei. Now know we that the Lord

Some Short Forms of Prayer, for the use of those who may not be able to collect for themselves out of the foregoing Materials.

A Prayer to be ufed by Children.

God, thou art my God, early will I feek thee. Thou art my God, and I will praife thee; my father's God, and I will extol thee.

Who is a God like unto thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praifes, doing wonders?

Whom have I in Heaven but thee; and there is none upon earth that I defire befides thee. When my flesh and my heart fail, thou art the ftrength of my heart, and portion for ever.

Thou madeft me for thyself, to fhow forth thy praife. But I am a finner; I was shapen in iniquity, and in fin did my mother conceive me.

God be merciful to me a finner.

O deliver me from the wrath to come, through Jefus, who died for me, and rofe again.

Lord, give me a new nature. Let Jefus Chrift be formed in my foul, that to me to live may be Christ and to die may be gain.
