THERE high the heavenly temple stands, W The house of God not made with hands, A great High Priest our nature wears, The Patron of mankind appears. 2 He who for men their Surety stood, And poured on earth His precious blood, Pursues in heaven His mighty plan, The Saviour and the Friend of man. 3. Though now ascended up on high, He bends on earth à Brother's eye; Partaker of the human name, He knows the frailty of our frame. 4 Our fellow-sufferer yet retains A fellow-feeling of our pains; And still remembers, in the skies, His tears, and agonies, and cries. 5 In every pang that rends the heart. The Man of sorrows had a part; He sympathizes in our griei, And to the sufferer sends relief. 6 With boldness, therefore, at the throne, C.M. 251 The names of the children of Israel 1 NOW in the breast-plate.-Ex. 28, 29. AWAKE, our souls, and bless His Whose mercies never fail; [name, Who opens wide a door of hope In Achor's gloomy vale. 2 Behold the portal wide displayed, 3 Enter, my soul, with cheerful haste, Nor fear the serpent's wily arts, 4 O may Thy grace the nations lead, [gate, All travelling through one beauteous L.M. 255 Is there no balm in Gilead is there no physician there ?-Jer. 8, 22. EEP are the wounds which sin has DEEP made; Where shall the sinner find a cure? The work exceeds all nature's power. Can ease thy pain and heal thy woe. 256 1 A sure Foundation.-Isa. 28, 16. EHOLD the sure Foundation-stone Which God in Zion lays, BEHOLD To build our heavenly hopes upon, 2 Chosen of God, to sinners dear, They trust their whole salvation here, Nor shall they suffer shame. 3 What though the gates of hell withYet must this building rise: [stood, Tis Thine own work, Almighty God, C.M. 257 Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty.-Isa. 33, 17. 1 COME, ye that love the Saviour's name, And joy to make it known, The Sovereign of your heart proclaim, And bow before His throne. 2 Behold your King, your Saviour, crowned With glories all divine; And tell the wondering nations round, How bright those glories shine. |
