It being now Friday, and the preparation for the Sabbath, as the Jews are wont to call that day, and the following Sabbath being to be celebrated in a more folemn manner than ordinary, as falling upon one of the eight Pafchal Days; the Jews came to Pilat, and intreated him to order the Legs of the condemned to be broken before the Sabbath begun, that their Country might not be polluted by their hanging all night on the Cro's. Put granted their Requeft, and Soldiers were appointed to put it in execution, who accordingly having found the two Thieves yet alive, brake their Legs to haften their death; but perceiving Jefus already dead, they did not break his Legs, but one of them pierc'd his fide with a Lance, and out of the Wound iffued Blood and Serum, of which John the Son of Zebedee,
