May they all hear thy word with reverence, may they try themselves by the truths set before them, and may they be enlarged in the kingdom of God by this service. O Lord, let the truths of thy Word, now heard, truly profit us. Minister. O God, grant unto all of us thy grace to apply to ourselves individually the instructions, the warnings and encouragements, the admonitions and comforts, the hopes and the fears, that have been unfolded to our view at this time from thy holy word. Congregation.-O Lord our God, arouse us and stir us up, by these instructions. Minister.-Merciful God, preserve us all from a cold hard and impenetrable heart that remains unmoved and unaffected by the loudest denunciations of thy word. O Lord, give unto us all a soft and tender heart, that will readily receive impressions from the words of thy mouth spoken in our hearing. May our language ever be when thy voice is heard, Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth. Congregation O God, soften our hearts: speak thou unto us, and make us hear. Minister.-Most Merciful Father, let not Satan take away that which has now been sown in the hearts of this people here before thee. Make us all to be aware of our danger from this quarter, and lead us to watch and to pray. O God, let this seed of thy Kingdom now scattered abroad on this assembly, be like to the seed which lights upon good ground, and is received into an honest and good heart, and bringeth forth much fruit unto perfection. Congregation.-O Lord God, let not Satan take away the seed which has now been sown, but let it fall into good ground.
