The Epistle. 1 Thess. iv. 1. WE beseech you, brethren,

and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk, and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication; that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not

God; that no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter; because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you, and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

The Gospel. St. Matth. xv. 21. JESUS went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disci

And she said, Truth, Lord; yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their master's

table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her

daughter was made whole from that very hour.

The Epistle. Galatians iv. 21. TELL me, ye that desire to

be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bond-maid, the other by a free-woman. But he who was of the bond-woman was born after the flesh; but he of the free-woman was by promuise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two Covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free; which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was

When Jesus then lift up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he we buy bread, that these may saith unto Philip, Whence shall eat? (And this he said to prove him; for he himself knew what him, Two hundred peny-worth he would do.) Philip answered of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Pe ter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley-loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat thousand. And Jesus took the down, in number about five loaves, and when he had given thanks he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to likewise of the fishes as much them that were set down; and filled, he said unto his disciples, as they would. JESUS said, Which of you

convinceth me of if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words; ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well, that thou art a Šamaritan, and hast a devil? Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
